To this day, long after that fever dream that was the Brony community has died out, I still cringe every single time I see pony shit. I especially hate the use of "everypony".

 

And here comes the ponies...

I highly doubt "bronies" were a unified "community".

Also with the 2010s feeling like a blur, the "brony" fad really did seem like a short-lived fever dream.

 

Presumably Chris skipped the bit where Rosechu had to have surgery to remove the excess skin.

And it's finally over. I'm going to take a bigger break before I get back to Sonichu. I've think I've figured out a way to post the next comics without drawing attention to certain, shall we say, "people".

Of these the Christmas Special is mostly inoffensive and "Bananasauros" backfired in the best possible way, but everything else is a quick race to the bottom.

 

How is he better at drawing the ponies than he is at drawing Sanics when he'd been drawing Sanics for decades already?

 

Ponies might be his true calling.

 

Chris does seem to be the first and last "brony".

 

Because ponies are already drawn like shit.

 

MLP-style ponies are easy to draw, and it's easy to design "pony OCs".

Both really appealed to Chris' autism, and thus "Night Star" was born.

 

I may regret asking this but what is the current "Brony" phenomenon? Is there one or are we just in the calm before the storm. I remember people trying to make The Loud House the next big thing but that went about as well as you'd expect.

 

I think there's still quite a few bronies out there. The fandom's not nearly as big as it was in the mid-2010's, but it's still there.

TBH I'm actually kind of hoping for a brony resurgance because I absolutely loved the complete insanity that could come from these guys. I'm kind of nostalgic for it tbh, and there's just never been a group like them. Furries are boring, and most toxic fandoms are just the same shit over and over. Bronies were the real deal. There was actual fucking madness there.

 

I was wondering if anything has taken the place of MLP but you're right, there really won't be anything else like it. It'll be interesting seeing people trying to reignite the fandom but it just won't ever be the same. It'll be like the Brony version of Woodstock 94.

 

How would Chris and the Sonichu comics have been different if he was into "nerdy" and "soft" SF like Star Wars or Star Trek?

I remember seeing Star Trek fans doing military-style drills in front of a bookstore at a mall sometime before 2000.

In full Starfleet uniforms (from the later TOS movies).

Family with me at the time who's into Star Trek thought that was a bit much.

 

Did anyone there ever:

•Claim to be dating the real life versions of the characters, who actually arrived to Earth from another dimension
•Try and hypnotize themselves into becoming the characters
•Be someone who, completely seriously, tried to open a real portal to the fictional world
•Use psychogical tricks (aforementioned hypnosis, lucid dreaming, meditation, tulpas, etc) to try and make the world as real as possible to them
•Make a BDSM dungeon for a plushy of one of the characters
•Write enough pseudo-scifi fanfiction about pony transhumanism to fill Atlus Shrugged 3 times over
•Write enough response fanfiction to the above to fill Atlus Shrugged once
•Commit an act of fucking murder in honor of their waifu
•Even more wacky shit I'm not mentioning

Once all of that happens, then yeah, they'll be the next bronies.

 

So Chris wasn't the only one who thought cartoon pastel ponies were "real in another dimension"?

Nope. There are/were quite a few people who believe in that. Some people just believed that it was real in some distant alternate universe, which I guess was comforting to them, while others seemed to believe that they made first contact with extraterrestrial beings and that they resembled ponies from an Earthly cartoon show.

I'm talking about the FedEx shooting where I think the culprit mentioned something about being with Applejack in heaven when he died or some shit
