I remember because the story warned that if you got them to not feed them "Too much" because the immobility meant they couldn't exercise and would get fat.

If the Dimensional Merge happens, wouldn't all the horror stories become true too?

 

If "Dimensional Merge" were real, it'd be more or less like the physical merging with that Warp from WH40K, with fictional characters being like entities of the Immaterium in such a scenario.

I'm not really into WH40K, but I think the Immaterium is hyperspace, as well as a realm of mind power. So it is a realm where thoughts and emotions from the physical can influence it. Tapping into it can grant ESP ability. If a physical world merges with it, that can make a "daemon world", where ordinary physics can seem to break down. Like if all fiction were merged with reality.
