Just thinking about what you said about directness in bullying. I seem to recall from Dillin Thomas's livestreams he said something about 'teenage boys will call you gay to your face, girls will be a little more subtle'. That really does seem to be the case here. His lack of understanding of figurative language meant he didn't know what was going on.

Bob paying those girls to hang out with him was also a major problem. Better for them to be honest in how they felt, may have led to him scrubbing down some of his 'weird' tendencies and being better adjusted to society. Instead they just humored him regardless of how he was behaving, because there was money in it.

 

With the recent jail art being dated to August 28th, it's very safe to assume that Chris indeed did not escape from the Jail of Fail - if there was somehow any doubt before.

 

Definitely this. From what I saw in HS and college, boys were a lot more obvious and direct when making fun of people. Girls (more often then not) are a lot more subtle and backhanded. Chris, I'm sure, took blatant sarcasm from girls as them being "sugar, spice, and everything nice".

 

Reminds me a little of my experience too. It was mainly girls who were 'fake nice' (that's what Kacey reminds me of).
Do we have any actual details about what people said to him? I recall there was an incident where some boys threw pennies at him and he picked them up, not understanding they were making fun of him.
