YouTube 08/17/24 Bodycam footage of Chris's 2021 arrest released

Three years later, the bodycam footage of Chris's arrest in Richmond for that incident was finally released. Apologies for the watermark, this channel is the only source of it so far. I can only assume the people who run this YouTube news channel submitted a FOIA request and got it, after the Henrico County Police Department no longer needed to keep it under wraps after all this time.

It provides a lot more insight into how the HCPD handled the arrest and the immediate public spectacle that occurred during it, as well as the heightened delusional state Chris was in at the time. Something none of us knew at time that the video shows is apparently, Chris almost got tazed. Of all the crazy shit of that dark time to come out, I wasn't expecting that. It also shows that both Chris and the cops weren't expecting it when they were "ambushed" by an armada of weens, including king dipshit of the ween brigade and fellow notorious lolcow Ethan Ralph. Chris at one point argues with the cops about how his deformed Sonichu medallion is a religious item, comparable to a crucifix necklace. I love the police's reaction to the ween invasion, it's so genuine, and is a good example of what can happen when regular people unfamiliar with Chris end up dealing with weenery. The fact that the officers present didn't know who Chris was before they carried out this arrest warrant had to have only made it all the more bizarre for them.

I wasn't expecting an... interesting conversation to occur on the drive to the police station before they booked Chris, but I should've known better after following this guy's online buffoonery for 17 years. Pretty fascinating just how far Chris went with sharing his unique delusions with the officers. I love the officer's forced enthusiastic reaction to being told he's going to meet Spiderman soon.

Interesting side note: Chris quickly made his hotel room almost as much of a mess as his old room in the classic era, in the very short period of time he was there before he got pinched.

 

That was hilarious when he asked the officer "you probably heard of my comic". It's so funny after all this time, he still thinks normies know what Sonichu is.

That was also really nice of the officers to let Chris ride shotgun, and he didn't even ask. I'm sure they were skeptical if he was on something, but I guess by that point they just figured he was retarded and felt bad for him.

Yes, but at the same time, his maladaptive daydreaming is a defense mechanism, and he was undoubtedly extremely defensive at the time. I feel like after things settled down and his freedom was established, he has become less reliant on his defensive mechanisms and is more or less using them out of habit/boredom.

If bodycams were a thing in the '00s and early '10s, there could've been footage of that lolcow being arrested for loitering, and of course during that GAMe PLACe standoff in October in 2011.

 

Another interesting thing this newly released footage revealed is, the police did in fact know about the white collar theft Chris committed when he stole $750 dollars from Barb's bank account and blew it all on booking a stay at the Regency Inn hotel in Richmond he was staying at for over a day before the Henrico County PD fit him with the steel friendship bracelets. I'm willing to bet something like petty larceny was probably one of the other things Chris was charged with that wasn't on the public court records online at the time, specifically for doing that.

If I had to make an educated guess as to why they didn't bother pursuing that as well by the time Chris's charges were dropped and his case was dismissed, it's probably because given that it was the much more minor of the crimes Chris was charged with, by the time the verdict came around a year ago, Chris already had credit for time served, so the need for any fine or jail time for the petty larceny was rendered pointless by that.

His defense attorney probably also argued in court that Chris was in dire extenuating circumstances where he had become homeless due to his actions, and that stealing that much money from Barb and going on the lam at a hotel out of town was probably something he wouldn't normally do if he wasn't in that situation, and the judge must have bought it. The "autism disorder deposition deferral" that got his case dismissed likely covered it too I imagine.

There's a detail worth noting I've picked up on when going back to the video a few times. Conversation between the officers reveals that the cops had Chris under surveillance for at least a day prior to the arrest. This can be inferred when one of the cops asks one of his co-workers "Where'd you see him at?", and he replies "Regency", referring to the Regency Mall in Richmond. Chris did screw around there for a bit a day before he was arrested. Provides some interesting insight to know that the police were tracking Chris's movements since the disturbing revelations, and already knew exactly where he was and what he was up to before the internet and any of the public did.

 

This is trending on Twitter, a whole new generation of kids are going to discover Chris Chan.

 

I love how when the cop is driving Chris to jail, you can see a glimpse of his face and the smirk he has when Chris is telling him about all the superheroes, cartoon characters, and video game characters who live in Dimension C-197.

Literally appeared right on the front page of Youtube when I got on the site. It's all interesting to see how it all goes from the body cam of a cop and just how they react from the groups that come in to see the arrest just because it was Chris.

I'm genuinely surprised that this is one of the most tame interactions with police I've ever seen. I'd figured Chris would put up a fight and claim he would punish them because she was literally God.

 

At the time he didn't have the delusion of being Christ yet -- he just thought he was a vidya "goddess".

AFAIK the Christ delusion came along when he only had a Bible to read while in the "Jail of Fail" later.

 

I've seen body cam where some unrelated idiot got arrested because they started messing with the cops and wouldn't back down when the cops told them to knock it off or they'd get arrested (yes, people are that dumb)

I don't know if it's because Chris is just timid by nature or the cops threatening him with the taser made him compliant

 

Honestly, there was a part of me that wanted to see the weens get tased and arrested for being annoying dipshits *HI A-LOG*

 

Which honestly explains a lot about cults like Jehova's Witness and Christian Science, these were delusional people who if fiction had been more developed would have believed they were Kryptonian, since it wasn't they just latched onto a book of historical documentation and various allegories.
