I'd argue that Chris is many people's least favorite person, so it checks out

I'd imagine Snyder probably blames Chris for the GamePlace needing to be sold....

I heard it was because people kept showing up to talk about Chris and Pester staff and customers yelling "JULAY" without buying anything

TBH running a mom and pop brick and mortar retail store after 2005 was a hard business proposition
IDK if it would have failed even if Chris never went there

If the GAMe PLACe somehow remained open despite weens, the store likely would've struggled and wouldn't make it past 2020 anyway. A number of struggling businesses ended then.

(like that mall in Phoenix, AZ where parts of that Bill & Ted movie were filmed)

Honestly, a lot of card and tabletop game places are shutting down mostly due to Wizard's of the Coast making dumb business decisions with what card sets they release (and no, not because of "wokeness" but because mechanically the sets haven't been good, I mean, making a werewolf themed expansion that isn't compatible with previous werewolf cards and has no synergy with them? What were they thinking...). Also, people don't have disposable income like they did before Covid and card games are a huge money sink, there is a reason why people call it "cardboard crack"

My local card shop closed recently because these companies like Wizards forces game stores to buy x amount of card sets even though they wouldn't sell and lost money because they weren't able to just only buy the few that they needed and people would buy and the business suffered.

I drove by my local hobby store today
it seems they have a lot of tournaments, which I guess is how they make money, because selling stuff in a brick and mortar store isn't as profitable anymore
that said, young people who grew up when buying stuff online was popular are enjoying shopping in brick and mortar stores

but yeah, I don't know how long Snyder's hobby store would have survived even if Chris never went there
