Meta When and how did you first learn about CWC and "Sonichu"?

Encylopedia Dramatica in 2008. I had read that site a lot in my free time since 2006, because teenage me had no taste, and when it was first made I was intimidated by the Chris-chan page due to it's massive size. I eventually caved and read it, and through the ED article I found out about the cwcki, joined the second oldest incarnation of the forum(the first was nuked due to high levels of cancer, none of the staff from it were brought back) and things just evolved from there to where I am now.

 

It'd have had to be around late 2015 or early 2016. I saw CWC's name listed alongside SammyClassicSonicFan and MarioTehPlumber.
I didn't really get invested in Christory until the part where he did his mom; before then, all I knew was he wrote Sonichu, maced a GameStop employee, and played Rusty's Real Deal Baseball.

 

I'm almost certain it's Liquid Chris doing a Patrick Warburton voice. Anytime I make this claim, nobody really confirms or denies it.

My next best guess would be Gecko, since he was involved behind-the-scenes for a few of Kacey & Liquid's videos.

 

There’s probably at least one person on Kiwi Farms who knows.

I think it's one thing to not believe in "politically correct" views on the sexes, but it's another to try to push views on others - left or right - in a cult-y or /pol/-ish way.

 

I always forget this whenever I go on Twitter and search up Chris's name to find out what people are saying about him. Outside of the Club, discussion about Chris almost always falls into tedious 'discourse' about transgender rights and pronouns. It's so irritating.

Anyway at least CWCki Club is a chill place compared to some places out there.

And it's ironic how this place wouldn't even be here if Chris hadn't "just won" at being one of - if not the - biggest lolcow.

 

Shout-out to all the Europeans living in countries that beat America in standards of living and are thoroughly confused by Americans who think that Democrats are "the left".

It must be wild for you guys watching Americans say the darndest things.

 

It can be relative: what may be a small difference in one place can be a bigger difference in another.

Or one needs to be there to see the difference.

Anyway I don't want to derail this thread with a political debate.

 

Two kinds of discourse about Chris:
'If you call Chris 'he' it means you don't respect transgender people, or your respect for them is determined by who they are as people. (likely brings up Caitlyn Jenner)'
'Chris PROVES that all transgender people are likely sexual predators'.
I hate both of them.

 

Back when I first heard of "CWC", Newgrounds, Homestar Runner, and other flash toons were still a thing.

Also the popular mobile phones were those flip-phones that resemble TOS Star Trek communicators.

Now it's the age of "smartphones" and "social media", and Chris is in the "Jail of Fail" - or mental hospital.

 

Just want to point out that even though they're not as popular now as in their heyday, Newgrounds and Homestar Runner are still alive. Newgrounds in particular is seeing a revived interest thanks to Friday Night Funkin' and Smiling Friends, and also thanks YouTube becoming even more strict with age restricted videos, or worse, forcibly moving videos to their cancerous "YouTube Kids" shit.
Sorry for going off topic there, but I still believe you need to tone down the doom and gloom posts. We're no longer on Kiwi Farms, after all.

 

I didn't mean to sound doom and gloom there, I was just trying to illustrate how a lot of time has passed since the time "Classic Chris" was around - even if then doesn't seem too long ago.

(Also I thought H*R and NG are still around but not as popular now, although I didn't know about the Newgrounds revival thing.)

 

I get your point. To be honest, I watch EmpLemon's 'YouTube is on a downward spiral' video again and again, and I agree with a lot of what he has to say, but it doesn't mean the modern internet has NO advantages. (Video quality and diversity of available content, for two things).

Most people who knew about Chris saw him as a relic of the 2000's internet, mentioned in the same sentence as Goatse and Zelda CD-I memes. If not for the 'soul-bonding' he would have stayed that way.

This old YouTube shitpost channel I watched 10+ years ago would upload videos that were like thirty seconds long and made fun of a particular topic. In one video he made fun of "Tales of Vesperia" and left the video on a loop with just a character's jiggle physics endlessly. It goes with audio of I think Tails from the Sonic Says memes that he's screaming "I'M MASTURBATING!"

In the comments I checked and found someone asking "who the hell announces they're masturbating?"
The uploader replied with "Chris Chan." From then, I found the video of Kevin and Bean discussing him and everything from then on was a blurry mess as I went down the rabbit hole.

 

2017 or so. I got the sonichu animated series recommended to me for some reason, then I watched the Down the Rabbit Hole video on him.
That's where my life took a turn for the worse
