Meta When and how did you first learn about CWC and "Sonichu"?

    I first heard about "Chris Chan" on old ED in the late '00s. Wasn't too interested to find out more then.

    I later heard about "Sonichu" after I found the CWCki - this was around the time of the big Snyder incident.

    (looks like I missed out on witnessing the antics of "Classic Chris" happening "in real time" then)

    I found him on ED through Kevin Havens, of all people, in like 2008-2009, but didn't participate in any forums or anything. I finally signed up and lurked right before he ran Snyder over.

    That "radio silent" era that ended when Chris made that LEGO "recreation" of MHS can still feel recent.

    I got in after the golden age of trolling but before the house fire. Not much Chris content was going on, but Deagle Nation was in full swing and that got me hooked.

    It was a mix of Indigo and drama involving a deviantart user called TwisterFiendish/Chase the Hedgehog. People kept comparing his red sonic recolor to Sonichu and I asked Indigo about it, and she told me about Chris. I think this was sometime around 2009 or 2010. It took me a while to find the CWCki forums though.

    I think it was 2008 from some long-deleted YouTube video making fun of Sonichu, which I found while watching things mocking Spax3 (If anyone remembers him). I can recall at the time that the latest video Chris had made was the one where he crashes into slumber.

    Honestly, it's tempting to say 'I wish I was here during the Classic Era', but I honestly don't, because I'm sure the discourse and comments toward Chris were a lot more mean-spirited on the old troll forums than they are now.

    Actually, during the ChampThom era, the CwckiForums were a lot more like a community back then. The PVCC had their own separate forum and site where they did all their stuff. Because of some PVCC members also being members of the Cwckiforums, we'd get more "hoarded cocks" after any particular troll saga ended.
    Most people, give or take the odd sperg, just thought Chris' antics were funny or stupid. No one ever really had any actual malice toward him, that I remember. The moderation time back then was pretty good at stopping the a-logging before it got too bad.

    It was nice back then, and I still regret I didn't speak up and get to know people more, but later on I became friends with a bunch of people from the old forums and we've even hung out IRL a few times.

    I was never fully involved in the cwcki community, but I do kind of miss it. I do remember somebody asked me if I wanted to join the PVCC forum after the Snyder incident trial, but the forum was already pretty much abandoned by then.

    It was certainly a different time. I think it was the "Golden Age of Lolcows" back then. CWC was a super lolcow.

    Smartphones and "social media" weren't mainstream like they are now, so the Internet was more of a "nerd" thing.

    YouTube - on which Chris was active - still needed Flash to use, and the vids were usually VHS quality or worse.
