What are your thoughts on the new Sonichu "books"?

It's been awhile since my lazy ass has posted anything discussion wise related solely on Sonichu ( And I'm actually sorry about this.).

This is lately been on my mind but I want to see what the wonderful people of the CWCKI club think of the new Sonichu issues we've been getting.

Are you guys enjoying the new content? Do you guys enjoy the older content more? Or do you guys think the new content's even better than the old?

As for my thoughts: I'm unsure how I really feel at the moment. I'm going to wait a few more updates before I make a full opinion on it.

 

Well, I say "like" it not so much because I like the actual stuff but rather because I like the fact more is being made, if that makes sense.

There will always be a certain charm to the classic pre-Tomgirl Sonichu, a kind of purity and naivete about it that is missing from the newer stuff. That style which managed to be simultaneously sociopathic and childish at the same time is just something unique I don't think we'll ever see again. It's a very special kind of shitty.

I do find it interesting that without a Slawell Ryam to craft stories about, Chris is actually using one of his own "creations" as the villain, and I'm curious to see if the new can be as batshit crazy as the old.

So far, he's retained the self insert aspects of it flawlessly. So it'll be interesting to see what comes. My interest in Sonichu has never really been Sonichu itself, but rather the impact of it, the community around it, the derivatives, parodies, etc. and the more original Sonichu there is, the more derivatives there are. The fact Chris has made more is only good news for me.

I give Chris credit for this: no matter what else he does and says that makes me question his intelligence, integrity or other personal attributes, I do believe Sonichu is something he genuinely invests some personal meaning into.

 

I wasn't around for the "classic" era so getting updates and waiting is interesting.
I think the new updates are interesting, especially to see what has changed (so far, nothing but the insertion of his lgbtqwerty obsession) and what hasn't.

 

I was kinda hoping that we'd be getting Megan as the new villain in addition to Sonichu-ized versions of the Snyder hit and run and the Blarms Crusade, but I was being greedy. All this tranny stuff has some highlights, but, man, it gets old fast. Something tells me the pony shit will be even worse.

 

OH BOY BUCKLE UP AND GET SOME EYEDROPS BECAUSE YOU'RE ABOUT TO READ ANOTHER AUTISTIC ESSAY ABOUT SONICHU BY PIBOT.

Old Sonichu had mystical enemies, prophecies of power and demise, Chris with a rocket surfboard that one time, a city wide battle, lightning swords, that time bubbles summoned an electric tidal wave, giant fighting robots, a shapeshifting villian, whatever Rosechu turned into, brutal executions, time travel shenanigans, fighting the literal devil, fighting one's evil half, a touching love story about two gay lovers who chose suicide over persecution, mind-controlled armies, and rock music so epic it destroyed a building into rubble.
Was it good? No. Stupid? Yes, but it was so batshit crazy you had to read to see what was next.

New Sonichu is fucking BORING, the Christmas episode beats Date Ed as the most boring Sonichu ever. No powerful enemies appear for the entire issue. What's the conflict in the Christmas episode, Kevin breaking up with Cerah? That's the best you've got?! I brought this up on the Farms and if I'm bothered I'll dig it up, but the Christmas episode lacked excitement, like MLW breaking out of jail and something like making an army of evil gingerbread men to ruin Christmas*. It's it stupid; Yes. Does it fit in with Sonichu, yes. It would have been a good alternative to what happened in the Christmas episode, which was nothing. Nothing happened.
Sonichu 12 starts off the same, fucking BORING, but at least Reldnalc and Graduon are back so maybe some Sonichu 9-style battle is about to happen, it better.
That's all about Sonichu, but what about Chris, you ask. Oh, you didn't? Too bad.
You see, nobody reads Sonichu without knowing about Chris the author. And it's a good thing because imagine someone reading Sonichu and not knowing about Chris's life, you can't. You'd have so many questions, mostly about all his girlfriends that are his one and only and then suddenly aren't. Fucking Megan didn't even get a write-off. So everyone follows Sonichu and real-life CWC at the same time, everybody knows this, except Chris. Chris is writing in 2017, about what's happening in 2009, because Chris doesn't want to confuse any new readers with a massive time skip, not aware that he doesn't need to do this, that 100% of Sonichu readers would know why there was a huge time gap.

But you know what's actually kinda weird. The Sonichu 11 "clip show" was planned in 2010, while Sonichu was still in its original run. Its mentioned in one of the Alec calls from that year (The 9th I think, IDK the CWCki is down atm.) The clip show ended up as a quick way to fill the time gap.
Did Chris know he was going on a seven year hiatus?
If the hiatus didn't happen, what was the clip show going to be about?

I figured it would've just been an infodump of what happened in Sonichu up to then (issues 0-10), assuming Chris thinks we're too dumb to go back on earlier issues to find out.

 

I "like" them in the way I like looking at anything cringe or incredibly stupid. I can't say I go through and actually read them. Just skim and rely on other people to point out the shit that really stands out.

 

It's certainly got a different flavour to it now. But in a way nothing has changed. Chris is still morbidly OP with every other character fawning over him. The art literally hasn't changed. The writing is still on the level of anchuent Mayan hieroglyphics when it comes to making sense to the common reader. I guess now it's just that things are...calmer? Chris certainly has lost his childish energy over the 2011-2015 hiatus (probably due to the estrogen he rubs into his man boobs and his life getting worse generally) and I think that's reflected in the new slice-of-life style of the stories.

There's no more time travel, or Cherry Cola cloning, or skyscrapers being leveled by the power of Guitar Hero, or city-wide battles, or ridiculous over-the-top Dragonball Z fights in malls, or characters inserting themselves into the mainframe of a Hex Bawks. Things are less outrageous now. I guess that's why it's viewed by some as "boring", which in a way it is. I think the changes are more to do with Chris' mindset (as everything he does is) being changed (as little as it can) by his experiences post-Sonichu 10.

TL;DR Chris has lost his mojo ever since Bob died and the comic suffers because of that.

 

Maybe this is just another dull episode, like the date ed one? I hope it is, I really do.

 

The new Sonichu has been overall boring so far but it finally seems like its getting on the right track.We got gradueon back along with Reldnach being evil and gay again, along with metal Sonichu. Given the shit Chris went through on the Girlfriend day massacre I'm hoping that we return to the days of old sonichu.

 

I swear this was what I was waiting for and now I can safely say you had hit all my issues with current Sonichu. You never fail to give some amazing insight Pibot.

Yes, I now am certain new Sonichu IS FUCKING BORING. Chris is spending more time slamming beliefs and "political" messages involving the LGBT + whatever else into the comics and we're getting more stupid ass text walls than ever before. There's no longer random trolls or people he hates in his life as the villains. Shit like this reminds me how much I miss the sub episodes and how much I adored them. What made Sonichu was indeed Chris and whatever was happening in his life. Chris "rewriting" history in his comics or fulfilling his fantasies back before the hiatus was entertaining as hell... But now I feel Chris has lost a lot of creativity and has now focused more on whatever SJW bullshit he's buying into.

Things have gotten less funny and ridiculous and more preachy and boring as fuck.

 

Agreed, but I don't think he has necessarily bought into SJW bullshit (still bullshit though), since many SJWs chastised his threats against Trump. I think it's just that the Internet is such a fascist racist homophobic inbred alt-right haven that everyone throws the term "SJW" around to describe anybody who doesn't say "nigger nigger kike fag u mad now bro."

But yes, Chris comic has now become Assigned Male, but done with shitty Sonic recolors.

 

I will say this: the Chandler Family Portrait featured at the end of that interminable, seven years in the making Christmas special is the most gloriously bonkers thing in the history of the franchise.

I think there have been plenty of new CWCisms to come from the latest Sonichu pages. I don't even need to bring up this new gem, but seeing Chris editing himself into the illustrated 'Sonichu world' during the reunion was one of the best things to ever come out of the series. Blake commenting on his tits is surreal in so many ways.

Aside from that, the phases Chris goes through usually had something interesting to add to them, but with this LGBT stuff it's mainly just Chris or Chris's abominations giving speeches over and over, and it got old pretty quick. I can only read "LGBT trans woman soul lesbian love not hate" so many times before I start skipping pages.

 

Sonichu has always been Chris praising Chris for whatever reasons, but now it's Chris praising Chris for being ~progressive~ while he's still unable to stop himself from harassing women he sees as potential sweethearts.

Really, the funniest thing to come out of the new issues is seeing Sonichu go to a pride festival when just a few issues ago he was losing his shit at people thinking he's gay.
