It would be nice if Chris learned, period.

Personally, I think Chris is an outlier, wasn't it just a random tweet that he responded to that planted the seed for this whole thing with Doopie?

I don't have a patreon myself, but protection like that should be part of it because it's wrong to do what these weens did. I think when she did the commission, she was most likely unable to see this. It wouldn't surprise me if she severely underestimated his "following" until that incident with the loss of about 500 dollars.

While Doopie claimed she was aware of Chris's antics from the begging, unlike any non-troll Chris has interacted with before, you're right in that she had no idea how big Chris's "fandom" actually is. Most people with an ED article have only a few dedicated trolls, but there are at least several thousand people who have tried to ween Chris over the past year alone.

And that is rather understandable that someone who doesn't keep tabs on him and is in a forum like us wouldn't be aware of how much of a following he really has

The fact Doopie insisted Chris spend the money on Barb and telling Chris they need to focus on themselves... Fuck she's a good person and I feel genuinely awful that this is happening to her.

Chris literally please fuck off and leave Doopie alone holy shit. This is literally becoming depressing.

Well, technically she never 'lost' anything, it's not like the weens took money from her bank account, just promised money that would have gone into her bank account. Patreon is mostly about trust between the patrons and the creators. If Patreon removes the ability for patrons to pull their funds from a creator at the last minute, some of that trust is eroded.

I admit i should have worded it all better, but even potential earnings being lost is still something that would cause understandable frustration

Well, the 40-50 year old contractors that I've met who've been in their various fields for years (film, music, construction, etc.) have a bit of a common mindset that's a bit different than what younger guys who don't stay in their fields have. My dad used to say it to me sometimes.

"When you're doing contract work, always assume that you're not going to get paid anything for your next job. The money you might get in the future doesn't exist, all that matters is the money you have now."

What he meant is that in the construction industry and the creative industries (which Doopie is definitely part of) it's always possible to get paid in full for your next contracted project, but more than likely at least some money won't get paid to you, you might have to work at least a few extra hours without getting compensated for them, or you might not get paid at all. Worst case scenario, you might actually lose some of the money you already have to a job. My dad has been through all of those scenarios numerous times, and many of the people I have been talking to in the film industry have been through the same situations.

What younger contractors tend to do is they get a high paying contract for a job, then they spend money thinking that they'll be able to support themselves with the money they get when the job is finished. Then, the money doesn't come, or it's less than they expected, and they've basically screwed themselves.

The point is, Doopie is in an industry where what happened to her is the norm, whether she likes it or not. If she doesn't, it might be better for her to find a job in a different industry.

Nail on the head. I dunno what Doopie does really aside some YT and art, she may have a real job for all we know. As she said she's had weirder and worse ordeals, so this is probably just a shock how much of it hit at once.

If you get burnt 500 times over a career, let's say that's normal, she got 300 of em in under a week. So I can understand why shaken up, but I wish her well but I think she'll be fine after shrugging this off.
