Wowee what does this mean for Chrissy?
Let’s dissect all possibilities:
As always, Disclaimer, I’m not a lawyer, just a bored retard on the internet.

1.) Nothing
So this law protects the severely handicapped who would commit a crime without understanding what they’re doing, or not understand what’s going on in court. Chris successfully graduated high school and is college educated. Chris has gone through the courts and entered guilty pleas. Depending on how much digging the prosecution wants to do (they probably don’t) they’ll find Chris has made public statements that sleeping with your own parents is bad. The idea that Chris didn’t know what he was doing was wrong is a stretch, and the grand jury can decide this law doesn’t apply to Chris.

2.) Grand Jury decides Chris’s fate.
Grand Jury decides “ok, this guy can’t stand trial, but we can’t just let him run free.” so they decide probation terms and length. “Ok Chris, you can get out of jail, but you can never contact your mother, go to 14bc, and you have to live in this halfway home.” Worth noting Chris cannot by law be left homeless, as the state must provide housing at his release (for 30 days)

3) Case dismissed! Autism card wins again!
FUCKING SOMEHOW, the grand jury decides that Chris cannot stand trial, cannot comprehend what he did was wrong, and also is not a danger and doesn’t deserve punishment, and the case is dismissed and we all give our paychecks to his attorney for pulling this off. lol jk they can only dismiss if Chris successfully completes their terms and conditions of probation.

 

Do we know how long it’s being continued for?
I hope it’s not for multiple months.

 

Seeing how the way CWC goes through the legal system is a lolcow, it very well could be.

My guess is six more months before the trial gets started, the trial itself should be a short one.

Speculation has it that Heilberg's Hail Mary didn't fly.

 

It looks like the grand jury meets every Monday so, 8/15 is my best guess, I can only assume that they would pick up where they left off...

Maybe this is why Heilberg keeps delaying. Virginia is right-wing on American standards, which means the elected officials are probably more right-wing than even the populace.

A lot of these elected officials in Republican states would probably be cool with making it legal to hunt the homeless for sport, so Chris is fucked if this is a bench trial.

This is the only evidence for the existence of a god that has any semblance of possibility. One man should bit be able to skirt the law like Chris does without some kind of divine intervention.

 

What are you talking about, Virginia has been blue for a long time. Still I get what you mean that even in blue states, rural areas are always going to be more conservative

 

Virginia is only relatively blue--evidenced by Youngkin winning last year--and even that shift is pretty recent. Don't think a Democrat had won it on the presidential level for decades until Obama's 2008 race, though of course it's gone blue each presidential since then. Though it is fair to say that now it's more blue than the median state.

 

Heilberg himself has apparently emailed back a Kiwi and explained that sealing the case was necessary to make sure the jury will be impartial and not be exposed to potential illegitimate press. I don't envy Heilberg's position in all this, everyone is entailed to a fair counsel, even if their a piece of shit. I actually feel kinda bad for him, Chris isn't exactly a sympathetic character, even from an outside perspective; I can't imagine how someone can approach defending someone who was recorded admitting to a heinous crime, you either have to have a lot of guts or be a gutless bastard.

 

Yeah. Being a defense attourney must be super hard. You have to play devil's advocate to all sorts of heinous criminals. Not to mention, it must be very difficult to come up with a defense for someone like Chris. What do you even say? What possible defense could you come up with?

 

That's exactly why I could never be a lawyer, especially not a public defender.
