Pretty similar, Vermont is just a little bit more woodsy and a lot more liberal rather than libertarian. Vermont also doesn't have the same vaguely coastal feel as New Hampshire because it's landlocked.

Sounds like NH is a better place than VT.

Not much to go off of obviously, but I'm thrilled that the hand made aesthetic has been preserved and updated a bit. And Patton Oswalt as TV's Son of TV's Frank makes my heart warm.

I thought Patton WAS Frank for a minute. Thankfully, he's not. TV Frank has kinda gone off the rails in the past few years.

I wish I could afford netflix :/ I see where I can get a month free, but I wonder if they're dropping all the eps at once, or weekly.

All at once, so you'd be good to catch them all with the trial.

Has there been any talk of what kind of movies are going to be riffed in this reboot? IIRC, the idea was they were going to riff more 70's-80's schlock, while only dipping into the old B-Movie/50's/60's schlock every so often.

A list was leaked last year and the clips they showed pretty much confirm the list's accuracy, and it covers the 1960s-1980s. They make a pretty accurate representation of the sort of movies you'd expect from the show. If anyone wants the list, feel free to send me a message.

Seems decent (no fifties I guess, but then they already exhausted that by now).

Actually, looking at the list again, there is one movie from 1956. Everything else spans 1961-1989.

Interesting to see nothing beyond '89 here.

Which is a shame. The American movie industry today seems to be a gold mine of riffable films.

It is. I feel homesick for the SciFi era's one or two 90's entries they picked up (Time Chasers, Werewolf, Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders comes to mind).

With a couple of exceptions, anytime the show did something from 1980 onward was almost a guarantee that you'd have a classic episode come out of it.

I don't know what that is, but it doesn't sound as fun as Mike/Joel and the bots riffing a movie.

Basically, it was the spiritual successor to MST3K for awhile (before the reboot was announced).

Mike, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett (along with a laundry list of guest stars) basically riffed on big budget, modern era movies via mp3/audio commentary.

Note: Weird Al and Mike Nelson riffed Jurassic Park together, highly recommended.

As a backer, I was able to watch the first new episode and I liked it a lot. Once the premise is established and they make their way into the theater, it feels like the show never went off the air. It has a much faster pace than the original series and I think that is to the show's benefit. It never felt like it dragged on and I'm sure the dopey movie had a lot to do with it. Obviously, we'll all have more to go on this Friday when Netflix drops the whole season.
