MST3K General

I don't think this show really needs an introduction. MST3K is a classic and highlights some of the best cinematic masterpieces to ever grace direct to home video. They also have a youtube channel that can be found here where they upload full episodes and clips. Here are some of my favorite episodes:






What are your favorite episodes/ moments/ characters from the show?

 

I dunno if this should be a separate thread or not, but Rifftrax has some pretty good stuff. Big fan of Radical Jack and Guy From Harlem.

 

I like how the Packers and Wisconsin are a running gag in at least one episode.

 

The skits were a mix of eh to fun, though I think I'll remember them best for the Monster of Yucca Flats or Pod People:

For those interested in the former. I mainly found that one thanks to Ashens referencing that movie. I also liked their Zaat runthrough.

 

My favorite show. Cautiously looking forward to the new season.

We just watched Girls Town the other night with Mamie Van Doren's weaponized boobs. And "Assignment Venezuela," the unaired short that is hysterical.

 

I love Girls Town. Who knew that the Catholic Church and Paul Anka go so great together as comedic fodder?

The theme song's pretty catchy, and it's rather sad that it never got released on a record...

Which brings me to something I've been wondering: Would anyone else want to buy an album of songs from movies featured on MST3K? I want to have copies of the songs from The Beatniks and I Accuse My Parents.

 

I've always thoroughly enjoyed the Hamlet episode because I used to hang out with theater snobs and mocking Shakespeare is apparently some kind of Cardinal Sin.

Apparently Joe Don Baker got pissed off after that episode aired and threatened to beat up the entire cast/crew. So by the time they riffed Final Justice the writers had no more fucks left to give.

 

At a convention a few years ago, Joel Hodgson confirmed that, yes, Joe Don Baker hates them. They assumed that the stories were apocryphal, but found out the truth when Daniel Griffith, the filmmaker who shoots the special features for the DVDs, called Baker to see if he would sit for an interview. "No way! Not gonna happen! They used my name! They weren't making fun of Mitchell, they were making fun of Joe Don Baker!"

I did! Certainly fought back at the obvious WWII stock clips they were already having to deal with in that film.

 

Saw the Rifftrax riff of The Force Awakens last night, one of the best ones I've seen in a while.
