TLC- The Lolcow Channel

TLC has gained a reputation for being a modern day freakshow, with shows such as my 600 pound life, focussing on landwhales:

My Big Fat Fabulous Life, featuring a HAES wackjob:

I hate Whitney so much. I saw a real plus size ballerina on tv last week who actually like, danced and didn't just wiggle around like that self centered hog.

 

I love 600 lbs Life and Hoarders. They're almost impossible to find anywhere but Hulu and I watched all the episodes available of each within a week.

The most shocking most upsetting thing I have ever seen in my entire life was that Hoarders episode where the woman hoards hundreds of cats and kittens and hoarded hundreds of dead cats and other animals in her freezer.

Here's a less sad, yet still pretty messed up clip from my fave episode. She's known as the poop lady and her and her now deceased mother shared a poop bucket for years. She also has bottles of poop everywhere.

Aw man I love this channel. Are the people on the shows the most disgusting for their actions, or are we the disgusting ones for watching and enjoying it?

 

We watch them because they're modern freak shows. Where our ancestors had to leave their house, wait for the circus, maybe even travel, and now we don't we can watch them while we sit at home.

 

I love Hoarders. Whenever I feel like my house if looking a little cluttered or messy, I watch one episode and my house instantly looks cleaner.

 

The Hoarder episode with the rats is amazing.

 

Blood tampons, feces, mold, and then eating food contaminated with it all is this woman's definition of a party.

Poor, Poor, Buddy.

 

It still is The Learning Channel, only now we learn who has a fat fetish.

 

Whenever I watch these shows, I both lose my appetite and get the urge to go on a cleaning spree. So hey, they are inspirational to some!

I remember the guy asking her if she knew what was causing the stench, and right away she just piped up, "The mold and dust." And was then absolutely astonished when he pointed out it was duh, piss and shit. I think she ended up having to go into assisted living or something, because her family felt she wasn't capable of living on her own.

I read the book by the guy who does the clean ups (Matt Paxton?) and it was really fascinating some of the things he had to say about hoarders.

 

I remember this one episode of either Hoarders or Hoarding: Buried Alive where this lady had like a mountain of poop coming out of her no longer working toilet. It later turned out that one of her cats that she thought was missing had been trapped behind the toilet the whole time. As soon as it was free it ran outside and died instantly.

 

Ohhhhh my god that is so sad!

No matter what your opinion of Opie and Anthony is, you must listen to their interview with Matt Paxton.

 

I liked Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, 19 Kids & Counting & Toddlers & Tiaras. The only current show that i like is the fat dancer one, i forget what its called.

HGTV is another good channel, Luxury Tiny Houses & Beachfront Bargain Hunt are highly addictive.

 

Before History Channel, it used to be A&E. TLC in the 80's was this brainy, nerdy place that wouldn't appeal to white trash at all, and I loved it!


What really killed many stations is when they lose their original focus I find. This has happened countless times before.

 

I miss old TLC but the new TLC is magical. If you couldn't tell this is my favorite show.
