We need a Disney movie thread. The oldest Disney movies are older than anyone on this forum so we all grew up with them.

Some of them are pretty bad, but a lot of them are also fantastic works of art.

    So let's talk Disney.

Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie because of Gaston.

I own Sleeping Beauty and Alice in Wonderland on Blu Ray. They're the only older Disney movies I like. I would like to get Beauty and The Beast and Mulan and I'd kill for a high quality edit of The Hunchback of Notre Dame that gets rid of the Gargoyles :/

I absolutely love Disney, I've seen every single movie in the Disney animated canon. I own several of them on Blu-Ray and I just love talking about them. My favourites are the Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Cinderella, Fantasia, Lilo and Stitch and Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Are they still working on that Lion King live-action remake (alá Jungle Book)?
Probably the most unecessary movie ever since the original film still holds up pretty well visually, musically and sound-wise. The story and direction are awesome too and is in general superior to many recent animated movies.
At least the Jungle Book remake made more sense since the original film was much more dated.

I'd love to see them edit the gargoyles out of Hunchback, but unfortunately I can't see Disney spending the money on something that unprofitable. I've always felt that they should have just given Clopen more screen time if they needed comic relief that badly.

    You aren't wrong.

They spent enough on a studio cast recording of their stage musical version, now available for licensing.

In lieu of gargoyles, Quasimodo communes with the statues of saints. And Esmerelda dies.

So, in general, it's a lot more sober-minded.

I meant more of a fan edit since an official one would obviously never happen.

The Santa Clause is the best movie to ever exist.

Good for you, you didn't miss much!

As for me, I got a soft spot for Lilo & Stitch (not the sequels).

And yet it doesn't stop then when it comes to Politically Incorrect moments in Disney history. To me, aside from the subtraction of subtraction of Sunflower in Fantasia, there's also wishing to see unaltered versions of Melody Time and Make Mine Music, but I guess we can't have cigarette ropin' cowpokes and gun-toting hillbillies to rain on our parade.

True, but the Gargoyles aren't politically incorrect. They're just obnoxious. Actually they could keep the old lady one, Laverne (the gargoyle with the pigeons) in it if they really needed the "Quasimodo hallucinates some friends for himself" angle. She wasn't too terrible of a character.

Hunchback is my favorite of the Disney animated canon if only for its gorgeous atmosphere, cinematography, soundtrack, and Frollo being a really cool villain. I sometimes wish I grew up with this film, would've been interesting looking back on it with a more mature mindset.

A fan-edit of the gargoyles' removal actually did exist, but it's unfortunately gone because YouTube.

You know I actually don't mind the Gargoyles, sure they're completely tonally inappropriate but the movie usually gets rid of them during more serious scenes, reserving them for moments in Quazimoto's down time. also their song is catchy. The movie is incredibly choppy anyway, I can't imagine what cutting a ton of scenes would be like.

edit: why is this file so big?
