Is Chris getting sued?

I just saw this looking to see if Barb was getting sued again. Looks like Chris is the one getting the brunt of the creditors now. Mariner Finance appears to be a personal loan company.

It looks like chris may have taken a payday loan through them and failed to make payments.

I don't think they're a payday loan company. Their website says personal, auto and home. Anyway, here's the complete court page.

Knowing Chris, he'll probably take out another loan to pay back *this* loan...

You're assuming he knows. My guess is that he ignored the court summons just like the loan bills. He will be completely surprised when they arrest him for skipping court.

Isn't the court summons envelope (I'm assuming it's sent through snail mail) obviously different from other envelopes?

He'd need to be served. It won't be a surprise unless that has already happened and he ignored a threat from a very likely large, threatening JERK.

I'm guessing the new Ford Focus is gonna get repossessed.

Clicked on this wondering if some copyright holder sued him. That thought was a bit more fantastical in nature.
Hope fully he and his patrons can buy barb more jewelry

It says it was filed 11 July. No mention of being served but I'm sure they have to give some sort of notice. Maybe they just didn't answer the door and peeked out behind the curtains. From what I read a Warrant in Debt is a quick, slippery slope to garnishment but I don't know if his tugboat can be garnished. And of course if he doesn't show up it's just a summary judgement against him.

    Knew this was coming.

Tugboats are exempt unless it's a debt owed to the fed, IE student loans and back taxes, or something court ordered, like child support.

Collection agents aren't always the nicest, or well versed people so, if they can talk Chris into handing it over... then that's on him, but garnishing, won't happen in this case of Chris having unsecured debts. Now if 14BL fell in the rears, they could garnish for that for example.

Also for most credit stuff, you don't "have" to go, like a criminal court. So he's not gonna get a warrant for FTA, they just will rule against him and go to the next dead beat.

It would be pretty funny if Chris went to court and tried to defend himself - the rant would be amazing. Barb didn't go to court the two times creditors sued her and got judgments against her, so that will likely happen to Chris too. He's not going to get arrested for not going to court, as funny as that would be.
I agree, it's probably something to do with the car. He's most likely going to have run ins with the jerkollectors and repo jerks in the future.

Goddamnit Chris, loans are not "free money". PAY. YOUR. SHIT. BACK.

Rev up that Financhu Crisis wiki page! We've got another scoop!

If the car does get repossessed we should get some entertaining Facebook rants.
