    Most of the SSI cases that pull a side income are a cash only buisness. Harder to prosicute with out a paper trail.

    If that's the same as the case being dropped by the plaintiff, it's probably because they figure the potential return on legal action isn't worth the cost of going through with it. Not many organizations could benefit financially from suing him.

    It depends on how their TOS legally define their relationship with OPL. If he's considered an independent contractor in relation to their payments to him, they could just advise him when signing up for their begging platform that he's on the hook to tell the IRS about his payment totals while outsourcing the bookkeeping to his back as well. He might get a 1099MISC or a similarly akin form from Patreon, if they collect taxpayer ID information prior to use of their platform, above a certain yearly threshold but he likely is clueless as to how to use it and his responsibility to do so on receipt I would suspect.

    Chris also could have balanced transferred away this debt to a new debtor institution too.

    something makes me think they decided it wasn't worth it rather than any kind of settlement, at least not one negotiated by Chris instead of barb. If Chris was being forced to pay money we would all know.

    If the debt was sold to an aggressive collections agency, we'll surely be in for some good e-begging.

    Another possibility is that Mariner cut them some kind of deal. Usually these companies are happy to just get a little bit of what's owed rather than go to court.
