In all seriousness, that's usually how repo guys work: they take cars in the dead of night when everyone is asleep.

Chris is seriously fucked without a car. Public transportation is garbage in rural places like CWCville.

 

I saw this kid flying down the street on what I'm guessing was some kinda battery-powered skateboard. Maybe Chris can use one of those to get around when they repo his car.

 

Something tells me that this will bear the blame when Chris says he's too stressed to make new pages.

So if credit card lawsuits are like other lawsuits (why wouldn't they be?) and Chris's state of Virginia is similar to my state of Connecticut (it probably is for shit like this, Virginia might be nicer since more people in poverty per pop than CT) Chris can't ignore a summons, Chris needed to be served in person before a date was even set, because courts are busy places and won't waste time setting up hearing after hearing because "Oh, I never got a summons, musta been lost by the mail people or stolen by a-hole neighbors. Not my fault *shrug*."

So Chris was found either at the home or place of employment adresses that was provided by the credit card company, told in person by an official state marshal that she was being served, and had to express she knew what was going on. One of the things told to Chris may have been "Hey, you probably shouldn't tell anyone about this until it's over."

 

These are civil, debtors issues, not criminal. Chris isn't getting an FTA warrant. Please refer to my post before about this. For stuff like this, I assume they send certified mail, if you choose to throw it out or not open it, the court and creditor did all they could and will judge with out you.

Chris smartest bet (or anyone's) is to go Even though you've ignored or been unable to repay for a very long time to get the courts mixed up, is to go, it's your last shot to set up something. For someone like Chris, a judge could force a payment plan a lot better for him, than the creditor offered.

Also, assuming he was served in the traditional way I seriously doubt they bothered to give him any legal advice, people who serve do just that and want to get in and out asap. The fact he's keeping it quiet is someone told him in his white knight circle, or he just isn't talking about it.

 

This is chris we are talking about, if the mail does not contain an asspat or money he ignores it.

 

TBH in a civil summons the plaintiff has a reason to hope the defendant doesn't show up - it makes getting a judgment very easy.
Barb chose to ignore the last two lawsuits against her and the judge ruled in favor of the creditors. Of course the creditors can't do much against Barb, a 70-something woman who probably won't be around much longer.
Chris, however, is still pretty young and this could wreck his credit score for a long time. If it is for the car, which is what a lot of people think, in the future instead of Chris spending $400 on Lego a month, he'll be buying $400 cars.
