What are you playing right now?

Ark: Survival Evolved is free to download and keep on Steam right now (until June 19).
I was part of the Xbone beta and I liked it then. I remember I was playing with friends and a Carno glitched into the wall of our home where the door was and just kinda wait it out. We ended up being trapped in the house for 3 days.

I'll probably force my friends to dl it so we can all play together, because goddammit, I wanna ride a Spinosaurus. (Irritator, Baryonyx, Suchomimus or Oxalaia will also be acceptable ... if they're even in the game. Shut up, I'm a dinosaur nerd.)

 

Been mostly playing a lot of visual novels, mostly otome games. I am currently finishing up the secret route on Cupid Parasite and then I will probably start on Period Cube. I was lucky and I got some Vita visual novels at my local game store with their cards they came with intact for a decent price. In addition to Period Cube I also got Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly and Bad Apple Wars and there was a buy two get one free deal.

 

I have Cupid Parasite and there is A LOT of exposition. I looked up a guide because there's just so much unnecessary talking about random stuff that I would probably rip my hair out if I had a wrong response during a run. I'm a little disappointed that I wasn't able to choose which character route I wanted to take right at the beginning (like other VN/otome games I've played). The guide I found said the optimal way to play is to go in a specific character order and it starts off with a character I wouldn't have even played if given the choice. Oh well.

 

The only VN I've ever really played was "Hourglass of Summer" from the '00s. It's on an interactive DVD.

It's about a guy who keeps time traveling to different times throughout the summer, as he seeks to prevent a girl he likes from dying in an accident.

 

I'm playing Sonic Origins, because I'm the club's resident Sonic sperg. I think it's a pretty good remaster of the original Genesis games (definitely better than GTA: The Defective Edition), and I love that Sega didn't pull a Mario 3D All-Stars and make it a limited time offer during one of the worst pandemics in recent times (thanks for that, Nintendo).
Plus, all 4 of the games (1, CD, 2, and 3 (& Knuckles)) now feature these nice animated intros and endings directed by Ian Flynn, the Anti-Chris Chan (or alternatively, the Anti-Ken Penders).

Unfortunately, three of the Zones' themes from S3&K were replaced due to possible involvement with Michael Jackson, and Sega not wanting to pay his estate any royalties. So dicks out for the OG Ice Cap Zone theme.

Finished the caveman chapter in Live A Live, game's pretty good so far

 

In SpaceEngine I found an Earthlike world with 14 atmospheres of pressure at sea level.

There seems to be no ice anywhere, not even on mountaintops. Also the surface is mostly land.

 

Last few days I've been playing shit on my backlog but the ones that deserve mention is The Surge and The Surge 2. Beaten the latter and I feel like it's final boss just felt too cheap to me since I'm not a fan of the parry system in that game. The former I'm working my way back from the very beginning with the DLC installed and already I hate how a DLC enemy is placed near the first mini-boss. Felt like a cheap fuck you but that aside, I honestly prefer an industrial complex gone to hell over a city in regards to setting. The city layout could of been better if it gave me more places to go to.

Revisited Phantom Pain last night to try out a mission. The enemy helicopters piss me off well enough to rage quit since the game left me with a couple hours left to enjoy the night and I didn't want to waste them redoing a mission for near full stealth.

 

Back to SE after a week long hiatus of not playing it for awhile.

Found an Earth-like world with life, but only about 1/10th of the atmospheric pressure. It's in the same galaxy as that Earth-like world with about 14 atmospheres of pressure, over 20 billion light years away.

 

Played STALKER Anomaly these last few days. Aside from being a fun free game, it managed to appeal to my inner hoarder in getting my grubby hands on every firearm I could get. Much like in real life, I am a complete American with these guns.

 

Been playing exclusively on my Steam Deck lately. Great console. Just need to get my in home streaming working again.

Some worlds with atmospheres are so close to suns that the atmosphere turns into a giant comet tail and the sun takes up half the sky. Also it's kind of bright and hot on worlds like those.
