The Cure For Insomnia

It's an 87 hour long experimental film from 1987. It's the 30th anniversary considering it premiered from January 31-February 3 at an art institute in Chicago.



It's basically that guy reading a 4,080-page poem.

 

Another good film that puts you to sleep is Matrix: Revolutions. The two times I was going to try and finish the trilogy were both times stopped by me falling asleep. Still, impressed that was counted as a movie... though it being in the art house explains a lot.

 

I feel like you could have some interesting dreams if you took sedatives and put on all nine hours of the Cremaster cycle.

 

Andy Warhol's Empire immediately comes to mind. It's just a still shot of the Empire State Building that goes on for hours. Try staying awake through that.

I remember falling asleep during Ang Lee's Hulk movie twice, so that probably should be my go-to sedative movie.

 

When I was a kid and I was at the movies there would be random movie facts on the screen as part of the stuff before the previews. So when I saw that this was the longest movie ever I thought it was actually some kind of extensive documentary about trying to find a cure for insomnia. There was no google back then.

 

i tried to watch 'adventures of the american rabbit' twice.

i just couldn't do it.

why does that thing exist. it's like a miniature black hole.
