I'm actually reading the major articles for every Chris Chan saga up to the Blue Arms incident (because that is what I considered to be the last time Chris was really Chris). I was reading the emails sent between Megan and Chris, and saw something that caught my eye.

Apparently Megan saw Yoshimitsu (Tekken / SoulCalibur) as a sort of "husbando" character for her at this time. This explains why there were two drawings of that character on Megan's article, and it might be evidence that Chris just decided to get into SoulCalibur III simply because Megan liked it at the time, like with a bunch of his other "interests" that sort of vanished once Meg was out of Chris's life (ex: Excel Saga and Sailor Moon. He got back into My Little Pony in 2011, but without any indirect involvement from Megan).
(Admittedly, ever since I've played Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64, I often ended up checking out a game series because I was interested in one of the fighters. Though Chris's reasoning is far creepier; more or less just an attempt to bang Megan by copying her interests and hobbies.)

I think Chris stopped being Chris when he "went Tomgirl" around the time of the big Snyder incident. "Classic Chris" was "the real CWC", and now he's very disturbed person who weens are trying to ween back into being "Classic Chris", which is probably not going to happen. "Classic Chris" was a '00s thing, and it's not '00s.

 

You see, I consider the 2011-2014 era to be more of the Chris Chan equivalent of 2000s era of The Simpson that ended with the movie: not as good as the golden years, but at the very least had some funny moments to it that sadly isn't present during modern times. In other words, Chris Chan's Idea Guy influence era onwards is his own version of the rotting corpse of the Simpsons that FOX (and now Disney) refuses to put out of its misery since 2009.

 

The "Idea Guys" really were the worst of the weens. No other ween messed with CWC's rotting brain that badly.

 

There were guys the same age into Sailor Moon, and maybe others into Brittany Spears, although they weren't that common. But guys the same age into MLP before "bronies" - or a combination of all three? CWC may have been the only one, at least with the latter. And yeah, "Classic Chris" was "more CWC" than "Jail of Fail" CWC.

(especially because the "Idea Guys" hadn't messed with him yet)

 

I'd make a joke about Megan being a skeleton fucker but I'm also reminded how happy I am Chris stopped obsessing over the actually enjoyable anime like YGO and Sailor Moon. Though a part of me wishes he still had stayed into that stuff because some of the funniest shit was when he tried to "pay homage" ( *cough*ripoff*cough ) anime he had seen. Like everything post the Christmas issue just became full on insufferable and no longer funny just as Chris had.

Absolutely agreed. Fucking agreed.

Idea Guys getting Chris into something especially weeb trash like Neptunia and making Chris believe they were a Goddess, that was pretty much the point of no return for Chris or Sonichu. However, I think that's been said a million times.

I do feel like a guilty person for finding the sub episodes pretty funny.

And Christmas Special was the official starting point to the comics no longer being fun to read.

 

Yeah those can still be funny - one may be able to tell what really happened with the events they're based on.

Also wasn't the Christmas special the 1st Sonichu finished after Chris "went tomgirl" - no more "Classic CWC"?

Believe so. I remember just going "this isn't funny to read anymore" and dropping Sonichu as a casual read.

 

I don't think those comics have ever been enjoyable unironically. Not even in the beginning.

 

Yeah it was only really enjoyable as a completely batshit read.

 

Sonichu has far greater value as a window into its creator's life than it does as art.

I can imagine this being his daily reality, and him getting into a LOT of trouble trying to 'curse' other inmates. It makes sense why he looked so resigned in the photos we got of him after his stay there finished.
It also makes sense why Kacey wanted to become a nurse - she (or at least her character) would've fit right in.
