At least insider trading is a lot less vile than incesting the elderly.

yeah, but Japan's legal system is a lot less lenient and they especially don't take kindly to celebrities committing crimes. There is no question whether or not Naka will be found guilty, he will, but the question is how long will his sentence be?

Also, Yuji Naka is finally having karma catch up to him after doing asshole stuff throughout his career for decades without any consequences much like how Chris is finally facing consequences by sitting in jail for at least 2+ years, of course, unlike Japan, the US is a little more lenient and has these things called juries and assuming that the person is not guilty until proven otherwise meaning a conviction is less guaranteed than with Japan where it is near 90 percent

You just know that some former employees at Sega Technical Institute (went defunct thanks to Naka) are sleeping well after seeing that news.

IIRC I saw this documentary in school about Japan's legal issues, and there was a defense lawyer who, over the course of a very long career, only won about five cases. That's considered a good record.

Granted, there's more to defending a client than just getting them "off the hook," but that's still kind of insane.

I wonder how Yuji Naka's lawyer is doing? Probably doing better than Chris's lawyer I am assuming. Seriously, Godbear bless him having to deal with that idiot. I don't know how public defenders do it.

Oh yes, I know, I am just saying that Yuji Naka might have just as long of a sentence if not longer just due to how the Japanese legal system works despite committing a white collar crime

I wouldn't be surprised if he was a sexual predator as well.

Either way, the Japanese don't take kindly to celebrities committing crimes and are definitely a lot more harsher since celebrities and more prominent members of society are expected to be role models.

Chris is just an average autist in the big scheme of things that stumbled upon infamy in a weird twist of fate

Japan's legal system is weird... or at least that's the impression I get from the Ace Attorney series. (Yeah, they're not fooling ANYONE by claiming these games are set in the US in the English version, because very little about them feels 'American' at all, but you knew that already).

If Chris managed to somehow have some level of fame in Japan like Billy Herrington did, I could expect whatever cult following and niche groups of fans not taking kindly to the crime much more than those outside the country. Then again, who wouldn't be disgusted as hell by what Chris did to Barb?

Yeah, thing about Ace Attorney is that most of the stuff with the plot only happens because everyone is an idiot pretty much

What are they even holding him for at this point?

Are they retaining him because he's got nowhere else to go and they need more time to build a case against him because it can't charge him as a Tard Incompetente or because they secretly know that he knows better but they just don't have enough evidence?

no presents for Chris, except for what he can get from commissary and maybe a ministry that visits inmates
he might get a cheap meal of Oscar Mayer turkey, Stove Top stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, and some gravy for Christmas dinner
