A thread where Ms. Mowz (and sometimes One Too Many) mock VG Cats

I still don't know why Scott ragequit VG Cats.

 

All aged well like milk left in an unplugged fridge for 5 years. Also I'm guessing he's ripping off GTA, not that it really matters but I'd imagine if he did rip off Postal, it'd be on par in the humor of Postal 3 in being unfunny shit.

With the humor shown, I'm not surprised if the only demographic it ran well with was burgeoning 13 year olds who thought randomly shouting "RAPE" was funny. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if furries were the only other demographic for the simple purpose of stealing the two cats for whatever disgusting art they could make.

Perhaps enough people found it to be shit that he threw a hissy fit or something.

 

And we're back. In all honesty, I thought @One Too Many would post some of the comics for me during the weekend, but that's all in the past.

Judging by the title of this one, I'm assuming Scott made a guest comic for a different unfunny gamer comic, and he just decided to make it part of VG Cats for being on brand. Though considering that the cats only showed up in two of the six pages I posted, plus the fact that the first three shows that he clearly has no problem drawing the actual vidya characters, it makes me wonder: why is mostly anthro cats cosplaying as vidya gaems when they don't really add anything other than furbait?

 

These ones are mainly about Final Fantasy XI (I think; never played it), so I guessed these are the ones that made Square-Enix hire Scott to make official unfunny FF11 comics.

Hey guys? What if video game but real life pandemic? I'm assuming there was a pandemic in Toronto during that time.

Remember what I say when most online Canadians like to defy their own stereotype of actually being pleasant people to be around, because Scott proves that one wrong multiple times later. This just reminded me because it was kind of about Canada Day (with "WACKY XF ROFL LOL humor").

Come to think of it, games of now-a-days are far more problematic in terms of bad design and anti-consumer behavior then games of the early 00s when VG Cats was still "active", what I'm saying is that there's more things that can be made fun of in games now instead of when most people agree games were by in large good; not that you should be making a gamer web comics in the first place.

The anti-consumer practices I can agree with you on that, but with bad game design, there's always been blatant shovelware and other shitty games well before the 2010s came along: people just forgot about (most of) the shitty games, and the games and consoles from the 2000s that are treated like sacred cows nowadays (ie the GameCube and vast majority of its game catalogue) were actually mocked and ridiculed endlessly online by gamers when they were still on the market, and they only gained their current reputation because the kids that played them grew up. Nostalgia is a bastard like that: trust me, at some point, people are going to say the 2010s was the high point of gaming and everything went downhill after that.

I actually didn't know Scott made a guest comic for 8-Bit Theater. That's one of the very few webcomics I still have some fond memories of, though admittedly, I don't want to go back to reading it in fear that it might have actually sucked all along.

This is a guest comic by some guy called David Breen (no clue). Perfectly captures the humor found in a typical VG Cats strip by Scott himself. It's almost as if anyone can make a gamer comic, with no actual talent required.

The features of online gaming not mentioned: 12-13 year old boys spamming racial slurs through chat, players outright hacking the game to insure they never lose a match (this has happened to me more times than I can count), salty as fuck losers, monthly subscription fees of 50$, lag if your setup isn't optimized enough, the servers getting hacked and taken offline by cyberterrorists (complete with players personal info being stolen), loot boxes, and the games' multiplayer being exclusively online, ensuring that multiplayer will cease to exist once the servers inevitably shut down.
(P.S.: Phantasy Star Online was on the GameCube. Eat shit, Scott!)
