I can't have been the only person who ever saw this show
"Who wants to be a superhero"
A reality TV show where people dress up , and compete to be the best superhero. From what I remember the winner would get their own comic based on them

And it was hosted by Stan Lee

    Excelsior!

It had 2 seasons. I only saw the first but I admit I would have seen the second if I had had the chance.

I remember watching the first two seasons of this show. As far as game show (or whatever you want to call it) goes I thought this was a fun concept. From what I remember the episodes I saw were entertaining even is half the participants were autistic. I do know that the winner got their own SyFy level of quality movie based off of their character and those movies were fucking cringy as all hell.

I genuinely loved the show when it was on TV. I thought it was a neat mix of gameshow and reality TV. I mostly remember the first season though, with the videogame dad who won. That also had the guy whose concept was reworked into being a villain.

I liked it at first, but when Monkey Girl got taken out for turning out to be an actual actress and the Iron Enforcer or whatever guns McGee was called came back on the show as a villain after getting taken off, I knew the show was 100% scripted and that broke the feel of it as a reality show. Same reason I couldn't get into Total Drama...scripted versions taking the effort to look unscripted are even worse than garden variety leave-some-jerks-in-a-room-and-film-it content. And I already didn't care for reality TV, which is why I read so many books during this period of TV history.

Also Stan Lee's self-righteous preaching to the Iron Enforcer about how "superheroes don't kill" rubbed me completely the wrong way. It's like, pretty much all the big Marvel heroes have killed from time to time even if the victim wasn't strictly human, and some of them have killing people vigilante style as a major part of their gimmicks (Ghost Rider and Punisher especially).
