Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Just picked it up and getting to jump in early. Right off the bat the game does a great job of limiting information. And I don't mean in a DSP "wooooow dood what am I supposed to do?" kinda way but in a "your gf is missing, here's some clues, have fun." kinda way. I plan on updating this thread with my thoughts as I make my way into the Baker Farm.

 

I hope there is an easter egg where you can find Chris' fridge in it

 

So far my only concern is how short the game is. If you wanna fly through it that really is a possibility, even on a blind playthrough. Granted it absolutely can suck you in and kill hours like nothing. They did a really good job of giving it that classic RE feel with limited inventory and ammo. It feels a lot like RE1 and they certainly slipped some homages to previous entries in the series. There's all kinds of secrets and easter eggs to be found, and I'm sure I'll give it a follow up playthrough with a guide to get 100%.

I would recommend it, but if you're planning on playing on PC maybe wait for a sale and grab it then, cuz without the DLC I'm not sure it was worth the full price tag if you aren't playing in VR.

 

The graphics are amazing but the facial animation is so fucking awful.
I'm gonna wait to buy it once it drops price

 

Finished up Wednesday. I'd say it was a solid experience, and the fact there's paid DLC coming within a couple weeks and a free DLC expansion coming in the "Spring" I don't regret my purchase. Hopefully they continue to expand on it, as 10 hours on a blind run was hardly worth the money, but assuming the new episodes include as much content as the base story it was worth it.

 

Now that this has been out for a while, thought I'd give this thread a bump.

I was honestly really surprised by how good this game was. There were a few shortcomings to it sure, but for the most part I had a really great time with it - MUCH better than what I was expecting it to be.
