My Little Pony Fandom (Aside from Chris)

This is the thread for any cringy pony videos, art, and fan games you can find.
In short, it's the Sonic Fandom thread, but with ponies.

 

I wonder how big is this fandom right now compared to when it was at it's peak. Shit has certailny lost a lot of relevance and drag.

 

It's still there, people just don't care anymore. Bronies aren't all that interesting after the initial novelty of them wears off.

 

That's probably because it was just a particularly annoying meme that manchildren started to actually take seriously.
I have a good feeling it was never started due to the show's "quality".

 

You pretty much have other cartoon sperg fandoms. Even then a fandom of spergs such as the Steven Universe fandom might not really compare to bronies.

Especially when you have other cartoons for them to latch on to. You might have some individuals that stick around and even then, they turn out to just be bland, one trick ponies.

 

I used to be pretty big in the brone fandom (yeah yeah) but dropped off once I started my professional career (didn't have the time) and the show started getting dumb (with the new purple horse who's the new Twilight).
All the bronies left I know either turned into furries, reverted back into furries or are just turning into general Western cartoon/comic fans. One of my friends vends at pony cons and has to expand to stuff like Steven Universe and comic stuff in order to make profit anymore. Horse is still definitely a thing but most of the "casuals" have dropped off tbh. Plus kids "age out" of something after 2-3 years generally so even the little kids who like MLP now aren't the same kids anymore.
There is a real-gosh movie they're working on (the first 2 movies were limited-run but this will be a normal release? I guess) and holy shit it's pretty originalcharacterdonutsteel

 

Still, I'd love to hear the massive uproar of the fans that still remain loyal when (if) Hasbro finally decides to pull the plug for this series and start a 5th generation, more specifically geared towards children, just like the previous ones.

 

I once went to an MLP con that friends of mine started. The most surreal moment of my life was after I got drunk at the hotel bar, me and my friends met some dudes and chatted. One of them had a fedora. We got on the subject of women somehow and the fedora clad lad said "I'm always nice to women and they just friendzone me!"

 

I like how the official designs look no different from Pony OCs.
It's almost as if anyone involved with MLP can only draw one type of horse, both the fans and the people behind the show.

 

Bronies were and do tend to be more cancerous, since they rapidly and readily cross over their children's show with other stuff. I stopped caring years ago, but seeing things like them arbitrarily replacing the sprites in FF6 with ponies in my related videos in spite of not clicking shit for that type of stuff other than the base game used to piss me off.

They're more laughable overall than Sonic spergs, but there are more noteworthy examples of Sonic spergs... like CWC. Or Sonmanic.

 

Funny you mentioned Sonmanic since the dude actually is into MLP. Still, while MLP may fade away, Sonic related autism is forever.

 

To tell the truth, this thread was mostly just created for the few insane fans that are left. The ones that refuse to let go (TV Tropes and Know Your Meme comes to mind). And who knows, maybe, just maybe, the upcoming movie might be successful enough to bring back some of it's former popularity (*optimistic*).

MLP has great staying power with a very small subset of fans. In my way-too-into-pony days I was on a forum that was majority older women who grew up with gen 1 in the 80s and now collected mostly the older ponies. They HATED anything to do with g4 because bronies were "causing" cheap toys and "stealing" products from the shelves before they could buy them. But they still buy G4 (and many of the ugly G3s) because they have to collect every single thing, even though they literally own 50 Pinkie Pies that look the same. There's going to be a number of bronies that will collect G4 (even dumb licensed merch like We Love Fine shit) for the rest of forever, even as G5 rolls around. Hasbro has no real reason to go to G5 anytime soon because G4 is still doing decently well, but the eventual G5 will probably be even tinyer and cheaper and I wouldn't be surprised it if was web/Netflix first and not on TV at all.

 

Eh, I kind of doubt it will. Bronies have nowhere near the clout, power, and presence they used to have (thank God). I don't expect this movie to do well at all (especially since it's out the same weekend as the Blade Runner sequel) nor revitalize the fanbase to the height of popularity it once was. It's pretty safe to say that the era of the Brony is done.

Although that lone commenter in the link Birdoj posted is a piece of work. Obsessing over Donut Steels "stealing" screen time from the main characters. Give me a break, they're just there to sell toys and nothing more.

 

There's this neo-Nazi brony who seems to be writing the brony version of The Turner Diaries.

 

Well, the fandom is still quite big, but now it's mostly isolated to the fansites instead of places like Deviantart and Youtube, plus most of the casual fans have moved on.

On that note, I remember making this video which I though bronies would think was funny, or Kiwis or whoever. I was wrong.

 

Can we appreciate how fucked up was the fandom?

 

When considering the things they created, one could appreciate laughing and cringing at the tism they had.
