My first thread so please go gentle on me.

Logan (Wolverine's real name) is the first R rated film to star the X men and second R rated film, in the Marvel universe.

There isn't much detail and the movie comes out quite soon, from the 2 trailers we've seen
Logan Official Trailer 1 (2017) - Hugh Jackman Movie
    and
    Logan Trailer #2 (2017) | Movieclips Trailers

This takes place later than the Xmen series. Some how some little girl is a super strong mutant but she's also a little girl mentally and emotionally. Logan as an older man (he ages very slow so he may literally be 200+ years old in the film) with a very old Professor X (again with Sir Patrick Stewart) are care taking this girl from the bad guys, whom ever they are.

Wolverine has always been the tough guy edge master, Chuck Heston era kinda badass of the Marvel Franchise even more so with the Xmen . That's why I brought up the R rating. There have been other films to star Logan but the problem was you couldn't get as dark or as violent as he and his story often is.

I kinda have lost taste in the super hero trend but this one is really going to suck me in. Logan is not even one of my top 5 favorite X men but I really like how Hugh Jackman portrays him, he's got the look and mannerisms down. But while he's not my personal favorite he's a pretty good character and seeing him get the grit he needs with some great actors I'm very excited.

I've tried to keep my self from reading much more and hope to walk in not knowing much more other than this girl is important and it's kinda Wolverine vs everyone and you just know some how him and an 8 year old girl are gonna kick a lot of ass.

Wolverine has become one of the most overrated and overhyped X-men character, he is best used as a supporting character and when the whole story isn't all about him.

Hugh Jackman is a pretty definitive Wolverine though, it will be a tough job to replace him.

Well, I'll probably see it just because it's supposedly the last movie to have Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. I might not like all of the X-Men movies, but I do like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine character. I wonder how they'll replace him.

That being said, I think the X-Men movies could do with a little less Wolverine. Also, a little less Mystique. I loved Days Of Future Past, but I didn't like how much they focused on Mystique, and the Apocalypse movie turned me off before I even saw it because I heard that it focused even more on Mystique. It's hard to explain why it bugged me, but my best explanation is that it's like when a movie with Vin Diesel (XXX, Chronicles Of Riddick) focuses too much on him and it starts to bug you after a while. Whereas, in Pitch Black and Fast And Furious he works better when he's more of a secondary character, or when he's sharing the spotlight rather than directing it (or having it forcibly directed) onto him.

Just saw this movie with my brother.

It's more of a drama with superpowered people, but it's awesome.

  5. Two and a half hours of watching Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart slowly dying and visiting accidental devastation on everyone who crosses their path.

Been a week since I saw it and I'm still not convinced that this was a story that needed to be told.

I saw the movie. It wasn't bad by any stretch, but it was very predictable. I think that I basically saw everything that happened coming a mile away because it was pretty much all telegraphed. But, as always, Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman put on great performances. It's just a shame that most of the time they were sharing the scene with a child who could only scream, yell in spanish, say absolutely nothing, or rob what should have been touching scenes of all impact due to her flat performance. I'm usually a lot more tolerant of my criticisms when watching child actors, but those screams (those fucking screams) irritated me after a while, probably because of the ridiculous length of the movie.

Someone once told me that the reason why the newer superhero movies are so successful is because they basically adapt tried and true comic stories into big-budget fan-pleasing films, and when they deviate from the formula too much (Iron Man 3, the DC movies) they get a legion of fans complaining. Which is fine, but I kind of wish that they didn't advertise so heavily that it was based off of an existing comic story (Old Man Logan) which already told the story, and gave me the chance to read the story before I watched the movie. A chance I admittedly didn't take, but a chance nonetheless.
