Carl Hiaasen

This guy writes some dark humor, light "who done it" books. But he is a master word smith. He used to edit for a living so, his writing tends to leave me in tears. Everyone is a scum bag. Like a skin crawling loser. But some you kinda..love. I've shared my copy of "razor girl" with a dozen people, after the first page NO ONE can put this book down. It's so foul, funny and draws you in. I love it because it's gross, but you laugh so hard and it's not like porno foul it's a dirty open, one you look around the room and make sure no one is looking then kill the book in a sitting and love every second.

I am a big fan of anti heros and I think he's the master I've read, I adore a few of his, and they pop here and there but they make me want to shower. Yet I love them and laugh my face off. I think him being an early editor makes the wording just amazing. He says some pretty harsh things in less than a line and it's so much funnier and crueler when it's just the right words. So even if not your niche, I think it's just done well.

Has anyone here read them if so what have you read and are you fans?

 

What would you recommend to read from him first?

 

I'm sorry, I should have listed that. Double Whammy is the first if you want to read in order.

My first was Razor girl, you really don't need to read in order but that's the one I mentioned that if you can put that down or not laugh after page one, you are bonkers. It's a great story and will sell you to sit down and read the rest.
