Playing Starfield for the last few days since its release. Fun game though unlike most that are either fan boys or haters, I set myself up for no expectation other than "likely decent, better if someone made an unofficial patch."

I think SpaceEngine may be right that the moon is tan-ish, but the blue of the sky makes it look neutral grey?

1000 PLANETS WITH ALL SORTS OF SHIT FROM SETTLEMENTS AND CAVES SPACED OUT TO PLANETS THAT HAVE NO ALIEN LIFE ON THEM!!!

Serious note though, the world I can't even say how big it compares to previous Bethesda games. While people go on how they could of scaled back to make more crafted worlds while complaining about the mentality of "modders will fix it", I legit was kind reminded of Daggerfall with the fact there are a bunch of planets to explore and having vast lands of squat beyond maybe some plants and alien animals as the only contrast. Fun game but space combat can be a pain in the ass.

Also found out Hunt Down the Freeman was being given updates by its team despite the fact the game is 5 years old and it's creator had long left after screwing over employees with little to no pay but seeing the changes made so far actually does put in some differences such as a tutorial to tell people how the game works and the lack of a clown car tent of US soldiers means I will most certainly see aliens shredding my ass if I didn't get out of an area.

normal game standards: that's really huge

    SpaceEngine standards: that's really tiny

(then again SE worlds are simply terrain)

From what I hear compared to other space games, it's not really a space flight sim or anything like that. Sure you can customize a ship and blow up bad guys or dock their ships but that's about it. No space exploration though in all honesty, it kinda makes me wish they tried to make the game more like the cancelled title Bethesda had called "The 10th Planet." That was described on Wikipedia as "Star Fox meets X-Wing" which honestly, probably would of made this be something other than Fallout 4/Skyrim in Space. If anything, it would mean Bethesda had gone in a different direction beyond slashing or gunning bad guys.

The more I play Starfield, the more I feel like it's a bit like Daggerfall in not bothering to explore the overworld and just going through outpost killing bad guys. Step down from Daggerfall but at the very least, gunplay isn't as boring as Fallout 4. Helps the guns are more varied than what 4 gave people.

I will say this as a tangent as far as this game goes: it is funny to see how it managed to attract a number of fans and detractors. I wouldn't even say any of it is derangement syndrome (unless you are one of the unironic spergs screaming about the pronoun option. Seriously, wtf is with people) or bootlicking but it's just funny to see how many could screech about how fans are coping over a game or how haters are just trolls but I'm feeling like the only one enjoying it after coming in without any level of expectations for Todd. I will still feel like anyone saying "we got duped by 1000 planets" is a fool because that "1000 planets" thing already sounded like big talk one could already be skeptical towards. Especially if the people complaining about being duped were the same ones saying the engine was crap and should be changed.

I will say though objectively, the game is less meh out of the box than Fallout 4 despite the loading screens. That and in a subjective sense, I'm having some fun seeing someone respond to me over how Youtuber that called the game a "magnum opus" has to be a bootlicker for not criticizing the game after saying he was lucky to get a code. All while I'm slowly letting them know I just see the content creator as more like a kid being awed by shiny keys than an actual bootlicker because beyond having some free easy to make content, what else can one even get from sucking up to Todd? Seriously though, unless some content creator was a major reviewer and not just some niche video maker that does a bunch of video essays, I can't see much bootlicking and selling out unless Todd offered a small time in comparison content creator something bigger than just a Fallout shirt and a free game. Then I can see this as something else than a guy that's like an easily impressed child over Todd's newest game.

Recently played the Cambrian scenario in SimEarth, which starts with this world about 500 million years ago. But instead of the simulation following IRL natural history, the planet overheated. By "the present day", the continents were somewhat different and almost all desert, and the only life were microbes and simple multicellular life like jellyfish. Also the seas all over the world were no more than ~1 km deep. Land life never really developed, but AFAIK there was no major asteroid impact around 65 million years ago either.

Replayed Cyberpunk 2077 after its Phantom Liberty DLC came out a few days ago. I started a new character and I thought things would be different mechanically. Sort of is but I've yet to really feel any of the differences.

Playing Kirby Amazing Mirror on the gameboy advance app with my online friends. I've been waiting years to be able to play it with them.

I also got called a sweat in Sea of Thieves yesterday, which was fun. I'm usually not very good and avoid PVP lol.

I have definitely enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 much more than when it was released, and I play on PC which meant not having as much of a borked experience. It's not even because of bug fixes but just more on what the devs have changed in character perks and trying out some other cybernetic equipment that slows down time.

In one of the Master of Orion 2 saves, there's a "hyperspace flux" event that prevents interstellar travel.

My sister fixed my 3DS today (the r button wouldn't work), so I played the first 3DS game I've ever owned: Super Mario 3D Land.
I've completely forgotten that this game was co-developed by Brownie Brown (Mother 3 and Magical Starsign).

Many worlds in SpaceEngine are worlds with very thick atmospheres, above global oceans tens or hundreds of kilometers deep, maybe above "exotic ice", maybe above "normal" terrestrial.

oh hey that's the first 3DS game I got too (I think)
