Yeah I mean he couldn't make it through cub scouts that's a problem. Cub scouts is literally nothing but playing around with your friends. I remember it being all fun and not serious at all. When I got to Boy Scouts it started getting serious so I said screw it and just played sports. It's just funny they couldn't settle him down enough for friggin Cub Scout meetings.

 

Yea, until this video, I didn't know Bob was active to the point of taking such a high rank in the scouts, that later on he'd be ok suing them.

I thought with getting Chris into scouts was just an attempt to socialize him with something he could probably do a bit better than sports etc.

 

We only have Chris' word that Bob was an Eagle Scout and both are notoriously unreliable.

 

I suppose whatever Boy Scouts chapter Bob was in wouldn't have those records anyway.

This is true. Contacting Christorical figures is frowned upon, and most attempts are to yell "GLAD KIRS DINT RAPE U," but sometimes it's nice to know what really went down in Christory, since both Chris and Bob (as well-meaning as he was) weren't exacting in touch with reality.

I think it's genuine, but I think showing emotions that aren't creepy or angry is foreign territory for Chris so he feels a little awkward doing it.

Am I being cynical for thinking Chris is using this video for pity points? Maybe some half-brained step towards potential china?

 

It wouldn't shock me if this was what Chris has brewing in the back of his mind, that it was some kind of lame-brained "If I show myself as a sensitive, hurting soul who holds back tears talking about my late father, girls will want to give me their china!" attempt.

I don't think he's using it for pity points. Honestly, that's a strategy that would be too clever for Chris. And as @NAITCHA BAH said a few posts ago, this is in line with the stuff Chris would normally share. A few years ago, he was making CD sets of Bob's radio playlist, so this fits in with wanting to share his father's work with the world.

 

Chris is a true creature of habit. He will do things whether they are morally wrong, dumb, inappropriate, or socially retarded simply because it's something he has done for so long. I mean, how many times did the Attraction Sign get him in trouble before he finally gave it up? Since divulging every bit of personal information he can on the Internet is how Chris does things, getting him to change that is difficult at best.

 

Hey, when I get done getting the funding I need from Kickstarter I can build The Device and force Chris (and everyone else) to change.

I mean, total loss of every freedom you hold dear, but I think it will be worth it. Can you spare a dollar or two?
