Come on, Dream, have you read the thread so far? Am I wrong? I like to laugh at Chris's antics as much as the next guy. But on the same token we have to realize that Chris isn't a monster either. He may be dumb, and he will Chris things up (even something like this), but he isn't a monster. If we're going to chastise Chris for his lack of certain qualities, can we at least make sure that we aren't lacking those same qualities?

Personally, I can see why he would read this on the Internet. Chris has a hard times breaking habits, and since his go-to for so many years has been to publicize everything he does......

 

I get what you're saying, it's more the point that this literally seems to be your *only* talking point lately, that most of your posts dissolve into you going "ERMAGAH, YOU'RE A-LOGGING CHRIS! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

This is very true times changed. But I do have more than enough gripes with how mental care is handled and was during the era of Chris youth. Now, I gotta say, they dropped the ball and it seems in some respects actively shielded him from care. Now in some forms the care could be damaging, and I follow your point of view, if I was in Bobs shoes a shrink would scare me because he literally remembers mentally ill people being lobotomized. That was a thing, Bob probably knew someone who was. So the protection angle I get.

But, how were they not at the library every night, reading medical texts going to support groups etc etc. Things weren't perfect for mental care than and they still aren't but, aside get Chris on welfare what did they really do to help his autism? We knew even then a bit about autism and letting him veg out on TV can be bad enough for any child, for someone like Chris it's a lot more problems.

I don't think they planned or did anything to stunt or hurt him, even if they wound up doing so. I think there was a lot more they coulda done, but that's really easy for me to say not dealing with what they had to.

 

Ouch. Right in the feels. If I ever needed more proof Bob actually loved his son, even if he perhaps wasn't the best father, this was it. Robert Chandler was a complex and flawed human being, but in the saga of Christory he really comes off as one of the few influences over Chris that had any moral integrity at all.

This letter was heart breaking, clearly written by an old man who knew he didn't have the time and life energy he really needed to do what he knew needed to be done and who clearly had no idea what to do with a special needs child. Bob actually did want Chris to get interested in things, experience and the world in general and tried to cultivate himself as a sophisticated and masculine role model for his son. All those things Chris has burned, sold for a quick buck, and neglected all meant so much to Bob. That's so sad.

Good God, Bob even tried to reach down to Chris' level and use Sonichu to relate to Chris. That's... that's kind of amazing. Bob was not the kind of person to suffer such nonsense. That surely must have made Bob cringe inside, but he swallowed that pill in an attempt to somehow reach a son he didn't understand. I think on some level, Bob always knew he wasn't up to the task of parenting Chris, and regretted that deeply. He tried and failed and he knew it I think. Pure speculation on my part.

It's hard to listen to Chris talk for so long. His nasal monotone has become distinctly more unpleasant over time, not that his tones were ever dulcet (I don't have a nice voice either but I don't talk in a monotone either). That stupid fan doesn't help either.

Ugh that "Singing". Jesus Chris.

 

I wonder how Bob would've reacted to the Branchland Court Fire of 2014?

 

I was just thinking about that and I'm almost glad he never got to see it.

Let me side track this a bit, but everyone call your parents and tell them thanks and how much you love them.

I have no idea what made me watch this video again but I did after we have discussed this and aside some personal reflection, it took a lot larger meaning. I never disliked Bob, I think he just had some backwards thoughts but this really helped me grow respect for him. Also trust me, engineers have no functional emotions lol Bob doing this was from the deepest form of love.

We laugh at Chris and he does a lot of shitty things but, he doesn't grasp how much Bob just wanted his son to be happy.

To stop the emo stuff and back to Chris, I really hope Chris finds those two books Bob wrote.

oddly enough I just restored my grandfathers boy scout hatchet. It was given to me by my dad. I love to camp and shit so Dad wanted me to have it, and he honestly, forgot about it... so it's all fucked. Now it looks good is sharp as a razor and last time I took it out, worked like a charm! Just came to mind when Bob mentioned he was an eagle scout

I wish I could find my grandmother's writings she did in her youth. She has some interesting stories/poems I'd love to see about illustrating someday.

I finally got around to watching some of this video and had a few questions. First, why does Chris continue to display such personal shit on the internet (I know- autism...but you'd think he'd have learned a little restraint by now.)
Also, it sounds like Bob was really into the scouts, did he ever try and push Chris into that? Something like boy scouts may have really had a positive impact on Chris.
Lastly, is their AC broken? Chris has that fan blowing right on him. Alot of hoarders lose their AC and it never gets fixed so they have fans all over the house. That's one of the reasons they're always so sweaty....in addition to usually being fat and just generally unhygienic.

 

IIRC, the CWCki mentioned at one point that Bob *did* put Chris into the Boy Scouts, but they had to leave soon afterwards due to an "incident" (I'm assuming it was some kind of autistic meltdown Chris might have had)

 

Ah ok. Just checked the cwcki. He joined the cub scouts and got kicked out because he was out of control. Instead of trying to work through his issues his parents tried to sue the Scouts.

 

Long story short - Chris will use anything to get asspats.

Yep. Bob's modus operandi for dealing with everything was:

1 - pitch a fit,
2 - run away
3 - file an nuisance suit that is immediately laughed out of court
4 - ???
5 - PROFIT!

 

Getting Eagle (the highest rank) involves coordinating a 2000 man-hour project of community service. And it must be done before one turns 18. If Chris were to succeed at that it would've insured that the CWC of today wouldn't exist.
