What game did you beat today?

I finally beat Final Fantasy 6 after about a month or two of irregular sessions and a few breaks. I don't regret playing it, but fuck me, I liked Chrono Trigger and FF7 so much more.

Now I need to figure out what to play next.

 

Yesterday I beat Star Fox Assault in a single 4-5 hour sitting. I love marathoning the series, especially after I found out you can beat Adventures in about 8 and a half hours.
I'm looking at my Mega Drive now thinking it needs a turn.

I found FF6 to be kind of too easy. Especially once you get Ultima.

 

I was an idiot and didn't actually get Ultima. I thought it would take too long to get even one party member to learn it, so I just took the sword instead. Whatever, Bum Rush Phantom Rush works well enough.

 

Not today, but two days ago I finally got the Platinum Trophy for Dragonball Xenoverse 2

I actually beat a round of HOI4 last night actually. Played the WWI mod as Russia and beat down the Central Powers. Didn't really feel like conquering the world since I tend to just have goals before I consider victory in those games.

 

I just beat Dead Space. I beat DS2 (which is my favorite game in the series and one of my favorite games in general) twice in a row a month ago. I want to play the 3rd one too even though I've heard it's kind of disappointing.

 

I just finished a game of Stellaris. It was the first time I had completed a game and it took FOREVER. But overall I feel a sense of relief that it is finally over.

 

I had the day off and I just busted through Resident Evil 7. Overall an exceedingly great game and a lot better than what I was initially expecting after their last couple of outings with the main series. Not meaning to spoil anything, but...

...there are still a lot of loose ends by the end of the game, but not in a terribly bad way, but it feels much more open to interpretation. Plus there is free dlc coming out for the game soon which I hope explains some things. Still, my headcanon is kicking into overdrive about this one and I love it.

I played it a while back, and it is decidedly the weakest in the trilogy, but it does a good job wrapping up a good chunk of the lore. However, with it being more focused on action set pieces instead of instilled dread, but with the ham-fisted inclusion of optional co-op, which pretty much destroys most of the "all alone in a hostile, alien place," it does feel very different. However, if you're invested in the lore, check it out.

Super Metroid. For the one billionth time.

 

Crypt Worlds. I was a fucking idiot and went for the good ending, even though I had all three Tears of God and could've summoned the Old God. I'm also slightly disappointed that I didn't let enough days pass to see how the thing with the Sky Pilgrimes would play out. I'll have to replay it soon.

 

More of yesterday but I managed to beat the Death Wish mod for Blood. Fun as it was, some parts felt BS such as making a sort of "jumping bullet hell" near the end of the second episode. And the final fight with Tchernobog felt crap since the second phase is just a repeat in a similar map with an ice skating floor. Barely did I feel the final boss do any damage outside of brief one second burning.

 

Spelunky. Didn't beat my money score on the surviving run actually.

 

Final Fantasy X oh my god it took me a WHOLE MONTH GOD DAMN.

My brother and I just did a run of Turtles in Time on SNES.

My Raspberry Pi won't play sound right now, though, so it was a weird experience without the music and some of the sound cues. I'll have to fuck with Retropie tomorrow, see if I can fix it without a fresh install.

 

Sonic Adventure 2. It's about fucking time, considering I never beat it as a kid. Though now I feel exceptional for not doing it back then, since it only took me three or four days of short-ish sessions to get through the whole thing.
