Twitter 3/23 - Sad about Toys R Us closing

Of course Chris gets upset over this. I bet if he had any money he'd contribute to that stupid GoFundMe to keep it open.

We know why Chris likes Toys R Us.

 

We all know what Chris's favourite toy is.

 

Like, a ton of my adult friends posted their lament of Toys R Us. It’s just part of not wanting to realize adulthood hits you like a truck, but it’s a tad annoying.

 

Does that means that Babies R Us is closing as well, because I could see a lot of adults being upset about that. Seriously, my friends and family go there all the time for baby stuff.

 

Despite being the third most popular place for baby registry (behind Amazon and Target.) Babies is also closing.

 

I loved TRU so much as a kid but good lord is that a crappy store if you’re an adult collector or gamer. Surprised it took them this long to go out of business.

Just like Kay-Bee, Country Cookin' and the other buffet place that closed in Charlottesville!

I sorta wonder what might happen if he even lost the mall and GameStop locations? Less outlets for him to show himself at I suppose.

 

Chris is going to be so pissed when he finds out that TRU LOVE alone can't stop TRU from imploding. It'll laos be entertaining to see who he'll blame for their downfall: either the trolls or Trump.

I may be mistaken, but I thought there was like a statewide ban on Chris from entering any GameStops.

 

Probably, though I think it didn't stop Chris from driving hundreds of miles to one out of spite.

He's banned from the closest ones, I think. He also asked his Pokemon club friends to get stuff from GS for him.

 

There might be a statewide ban, but it might not always be enforced.

 

Don't forget Amazon and Ebay. Chris could be banned statewide from GS and it wouldn't affect his ability to get new vidya games.

Maybe, but you have to look at the circumstances very carefully. It's common when a company folds and a lot of people who don't earn very much lose their jobs for the media to talk about the executive bonuses paid out just before the company goes bankrupt as if to suggest something untoward or unjust happened. However in many instances, the bonuses were payments for goals met before the trouble or the company was contractually obligated to pay them under a longstanding agreement, and depending on the executives' actual level in the company, that individual may not have had much or indeed any say in the decision that ruined the firm. A contract is a contract after all.

Imagine for instance if you're a regional director for Toys R Us and your contract states you get a $250,000 bonus if your stores meet a certain sales target. You work your butt off and make the goal... only for the people one rung above you to fuck the whole company up. You are now also going to be out of a job (a very high paying job you probably are never going to find the likes of ever again), and are worried if you're even going to get the bonus you earned. Granted, this isn't nearly as bad of a pickle as some other people are in now, but it's not necessarily a situation where this particular hypothetical executive did anything wrong.

Now I'm not saying you shouldn't be sympathetic to the people who lost their jobs, nor am I saying that you're wrong for feeling a sense of outrage for the fact a few people were getting richly rewarded in the course of events which led to said job loss. I'm just saying it's possible the company just had to settle the debts it was obligated to settle legally and it worked out this way.

I suppose, but it just never sits right for me at all (maybe I'm allergic to men in suits for the most part), but I guess when you're that high up the ladder, nothing sets you back when you're able to plan these things through.
