Anyone interested in editing the CWCki? There are only a few editors left who add content to it.

It's up-to-date on the content itself - the posts/tweets/videos are archived - but the articles could be updated more. A lot of interesting info gets left in obscurity because it only appears in collection pages, like the ones for Facebook posts, e-mails, etc.

For instance, Chris and Barb once had a neighbor's cat killed. It's one of the more malicious things they've done and is a great example of how paranoid they can get. Few people would know about it by reading the CWCki, though, since it's only referenced on that e-mails page. It could be added to other articles (maybe Chris and Death? Or adding a section about the neighbors to the 14 BC article?).

Same with Sonichu 11's "nice rack!" scene. It's very funny, but is only mentioned on the Sonichu 11 page and could be added to others.

Or has the CWCki outlived its relevance now that there are multiple forums to discuss Chris and he's not being actively trolled? Should the articles continue to be maintained?

On the "should the CWCki be maintained", I think so. There is just so much stuff about our common friend and new things popoing up that I think it should be maintained. I also don't think that everyone interested in Chris would neccaserily want (or have time) to get involved with forum discussions of our autistic hero.

I edit here and there, but not lately. For one thing, I pretty much formatted and wrote most of the Financhu Crisis page (my mom is super proud).

The CWCki is by no means irrelevant; don't be disillusioned by any apparent lack of activity. It's our central information archive for one Virginian manchild, and we select few are the autistic CIA. We need it as much as it needs us. Part of the reason why we follow Chris like soviet spies is because we have a hugeass wiki to document his every ass scratch, a bragging right that glues this community together like hot navy. I especially like to go on a "Chris and..." reading-binge after I guzzle a bottle of Citroma.

Given how we all let this encyclopaedic-monster grow ridiculously out of proportion, it's unsurprisingly a lot of work to maintain, update, restore dead links, and polish. I see you shuffle around in the activity logs, and our dark underworld quietly thanks you for your efforts (in blood).

However, last I remember, one major problem that's killing the fun in contributing is that the wiki site itself is completely un-fucking-reliable during editing. The site has a 40% daily uptime, I swear. Literally, every other minute, the site dies with a server error page. It's a huge pain in the ass to work around while editing, because that's a lot of potential lost work as soon as you press the preview/submit button. If I'm not the only one experiencing this, then I'm pretty sure we're losing our wiki workforce from that. Who is even running the site anyway?

Despite it all, as the general wiki attitude goes: if you see something worth editing or expanded upon, jump right the fuck in!

Admittedly, I don't edit the Cwcki because I've always assumed that there was a dedicated group that would meticulously add information and edit information on the site. I've always assumed that any relevant information discussed on the forums would already be up on the Cwcki on the day that it started being discussed. Then again, I stopped checking the site (except for the bigger sections) after I got into the discussion threads on Kiwi Farms and here, so that might have been the case at one point but now is not the case.

Either way, I'm not about to donate much time to the Cwcki to edit it.

Marvin from KiwiFarms owns the CWCki. He knows about the server issue and has said there's a lack of funds to resolve it properly. He might be able to at some point, but we're stuck with the server crashes for now. Have you lost work when it goes to a 504 error? If I hit backspace, it'll preserve my edits, and I just try again a couple minutes later.

Yeah, I think you're right about the errors putting people off from wanting to edit. Might also be that forums are a more popular way to discuss CWC than the wiki, and Chris has gotten more boring lately. Around January of last year, one of the main editors retired from the CWCki, and afterwards, people would add info to the Facebook and video pages, but rarely to the articles. When I joined, there was very little in the articles about what Chris was up to that year, like his online business and the Financhu Crisis. I started most of the articles about those sagas, since those are my favorites, but I'm kinda burned out and haven't felt like editing in a while. I still do stuff like archiving posts and writing Da Update, but I'm hoping more people will be interested in maintaining the articles.

I was thinking I might take a shot at editing a couple articles this weekend. I've been tinkering with the lead section of "Chris and business" article to make it a little more general like the other "Chris and..." articles.

Has @Marvin considered doing fundraising? I'm sure the community could pitch in a decent amount to cover server costs. KF has a ton of members, /cow/ has a decent number of folks, and I'm sure @Glaive or @Liquid Squirtle would be willing to put a notice on the front page here to help out.

I'd be into that, too lazy to do editing or anything but the cwcki gave me hours of giggles years back so I'd happily throw some cash at it.

Marvin's a smart dude with his hosting, but it's entirely possible there are also some tweaks that could be done to improve stability beyond throwing money at his VPS provider.

I've not seen Marvin detail exactly what's bottlenecking the CWCki setup, but maybe some transparency into that along with current specs, upkeep costs, and backend stack would give us some additional ideas. He mentions not wanting to be reliant on donations because of the uncertainty of them on a month to month basis, but we don't even know what those costs would look like yet. Forecast those costs, offer subscription model donations through something other than PayPal, and then track current month goals alongside rollover excess donations from the previous month. Set default donation amount at low value to lock in more long term subscriptions.

And yeah, I'll advertise here no problem. Unless Marvin would consider full merger :^)

I also think that the CWCki doesn't have any active mods anymore. The only user with any mod powers still active is Marvin, and he seems to only appear every once in a while (no offense to him). And, at this moment, the CWCki is being plagued by spammers.
These are the users who joined between 23:21, May 16th and 19:04, May 21st. Everyone on this list who isn't crossed out is a spammer:
    upload_2017-6-3_20-0-50.png

The latest spam accounts (or at least the ones that did something, see below) was created today.
Pretty much the only thing they do is create either a user or talk page featuring a bullshit description of themselves or an bullshit story in Engrish. The main thing is that, they have a link (sometimes at the end, other times at random places) to a scam site:
    upload_2017-6-3_20-7-9.png
This is from the user page for "LilianaNanney2." That link leads to a page selling fake "Herve Leger" designer clothing:

If you want more examples, just look at the CWCki's user creation log and pick an recently created account. While not all of them are spammers, chances are that the account that you picked is a spammer.
My point being, maybe Marvin can make some users mods? It could really help the state of the CWCki.

I'm not sure how often Marvin logs in here. You might want to contact him at KF or on his CWCki talk page.

I don't see what the problem is with the PayPal donation setup. He talks as though he'll become 100% reliant on donation money once he gets something. He's already (allegedly) paying some kind of money to keep the website up right now, so wouldn't donations just be treated like bonus money? That's the goddamn point, isn't it?

Let's get this shit on a SSD RAID6 array with 10TB of RAM and fifty Xeons! We must rival the server performance of the NSA in order to reliably document our one, beloved manchild.

Just leave a flashier donation link on the page and hope for the best. Donations don't come with a guarantee... unless if you're Chris.

Someone could do a mirror of the site, I guess
