10/8 - Internet Dream Lounge podcast interview

50 seconds in, chris does a cringey dolly parton impression. Abandon all hope ye who enter here.

 

I feel like the other people in there have their mics muted cause theyre just crying laughing while the host tries to keep composure.

 

Overall I'd say it was one of the most well done interviews in terms of engament with Chris, Larry Bundy jr's was a bit more organized but Chris responded in that like a dead fish. Here were a few things stood out to me:

• A good portion of the podcast was bringing up things that everyone already knows about but there are some new things
• New backstory for count graduon as well as some "spoilers" for future content
• We learn details about the Magical Man!
• Chris played a few rounds of Fuck, Marry, Kill
• The MC asked Chris a bit about backup plans in case his mother dies or his comic no longer is profitable, if he were to publish it; Chris largely had no plans, no surprise, but he did mention his "unnamed girlfriend" at the time and implied he would rely on her. As this was recorded a few days before the break up I just to laugh a little at how shortsighted Chris is, at the same time, banking off a gf has an probably will always be Chris' plan.
  
• The MC did a great job, he made sure to use Chris' proper pronouns, talked to him like an adult (though you could sense at times the group was cringing), added in humor when needed, and knew when to back off. The questions were also well thought out and ordered. Props to that guy.
  
• Most interviews of Chris are either meant to trigger or goat information out of him but this one felt very much like an actuary interview albeit a bit laid back. This interview also seemed to try and teach Chris in a non confronting way a few things about his community, accepting past actions, maturity, among other things. How much of all of this was retained, judging by how he handled the break up, ehhh not that much.
• In the end the thing that surprised me the most was, throughout the interview Chris was pretty enthusiastic, eventually, even ending on a happy note; considering how temperamental Chris can be and the magnitude and subject of many of the questions, this was quite the undertaking... either that or Chris was fucking drunk

 

I haven't had the chance to listen yet, but Chris's participation should make it more interesting than other CWC podcasts, which mostly consists of the hosts reading pages from the CWCki and laughing.

 

And so the enigma of the Magical Man is finally solved.

 

Here's my belief. I think that Chris is generally an enthusiastic and energetic person, when he's comfortable. In the beginning of the podcast they mention that this wasn't the first take of the interview, and that the first take was scrapped for being 'boring'. I believe that if Chris is placed in a situation that he is not comfortable with due to not having experienced it before (The Larry Bundy interview, for instance) he won't really know how to handle it and his energy will be lower as he comes to terms with the new experience.

 

That makes a lot of sense. Shy people (or autistic in his case) aren't very lively when they're placed in a new and unfamiliar situation

 

Not even trying the female voice. Sound like the old Chris. Must be that thick 5 o’clock shadow coming in.

 

I like how Chris is specifically upset about how he had to pay eleven bucks for a cake he couldn't eat.

Or you could just go to Kiwi Farms where the guy who made it leaked the only bit of new information in an effort to get more people to listen to it. I thought that was kind of funny in a way.

Okay, I finished the entire interview. I was actually kind of impressed with how the hosts handled it. Of course, they had a laugh at Chris's expense, but maintained a somewhat professional tone.
