I fully expect another comedy film based off an old television show, that captures NONE of the spirit of the original show. But it will cameo the stars of the original show, if they are still alive.

    Placing my bests on either:

    Nash Bridges

    The Rockford Files

    Laverne and Shirley

    OR Moonlighting

You sure you don't mean Oz: The Great and Powerful? The Return to Oz I know and love is more in tune with Baum, using tons of stuff from the sequels (Tik-Tok, Jack Pumpkinhead, the Gump, etc.) in better ways than anyone's done since.

As for why they can't move past the second book - they've hardly moved past book one. Nobody knows about Baum's books beyond the MGM film, so that's why they keep regurgitating it over and over.

In any case, I fully expect Hollywood to remake a remake before they go belly-up. If you see it happen the end is near.

Film Maker: A desperate Hollywood producer must dig into countless forgotten franchises and classics from the past to find a good idea he can adapt for the big screen in order to save his career and a decaying studio. Hilarity ensues.

I'm calling it now. Someday Hollywood will make Bee Movie 2 which will never catch on like the original did.

Someone'll have nostalgia to think a sequel would work.

Naww that actually sounds like a fun idea. Plus it sporks their shit culture, which is a nope outside of the indie scene.

Im not sure anyone has mentioned this yet, but I would be surprised if there isnt a 40k movie in the next decade. And itll probably be done in the most bland way possible with imperial guard fighting tyranids or something, maybe with a few space marine cameos. (Not saying IG are bland per se, just lowest hanging fruit for budget wary studio execs).

    My mistake.

They're already doing that, it's called The Lord Inquisitor:

It's not a GamesWorkshop project but they gave the fan movie their approval, (because why shut down a vector of free, quality labor?) so in my mind, it counts. What'll probably happen is they'll seize the project right after its finished and start selling it on physical media themselves, because GW are scummy opportunists. The optimistic outcome is one in which they just start selling the movie & ignore the people behind it, brandishing a lawsuit at them with a "You got off lucky" narrative. The completely unrealistic outcome that everyone wants would be they finish the movie, release it for free and GW, seeing dollar signs in a movie series, hires the team, or assembles a new one, & we get a bunch of CGI Warhammer films.

That 40k film doesn't count brah, since it's a fan film. This thread's talking about desperate cash grabs made by corporate Hollywood suits looking at 1990s commercials and elsewhere; desperately gnawing on their nails to find the next thing to make over and over again until we're all dead while pretending they're barely breaking even.

Though I can always make a thread about fan films.

Already exists. Witness it in all of its glory:

And apparently they're going to make another one next year if IMDB is to be believed.

A mother in her late 30's (played by an American actress) with a high paying job, living in a huge, beautiful home in Washington (played by some small town in British Columbia), is about to marry for a second time to a handsome man her age (played by a Canadian actor who lifts) WHEN SUDDENLY some plot point involving her life/her children (90% chance it's her daughter) happens and she must set out to find evidence to prove to the cops/ her husband that something terrible is happening to her. She and her husband will fight, some how she'll end up in the woods, at least one person will be shot. The only black people in the movie will be extras or cops (who all wear this patch http://i.imgur.com/ejn8Yht.png).
The movie will be shot in 12 days.

You just described every one of them on that network! Reminded me of the typical Syfy movies all looking the same too (my brother worked on one).

A remake of American Psycho, but based around 2010s/20s Silicon Valley culture, instead of 1980s Wall Street.
    You're welcome Hollywood.

A dark and gritty origin story for Alfred Pennyworth, sadly I could possibly see DC and Warner Brother resorting to this if their cinematic universe doesn't get any better. :crash:
