Written by Jim Butcher, this is the good series about a wizard named Harry.

It's a modern-fantasy series about a private investigator in Chicago named Harry Dresden that publicly advertises himself as a wizard, which means people only come to him when shit gets weird, or if they themselves are already wrapped up in the supernatural world. The supernatural world, btw pretty much has fantasy elements from every mythos and every religion. You've got faeries, ghosts, monsters, demons, angels, gods, and vampires, and a mafia gang all looking to fuck shit up.

Oh, and the series has a lot of neat plot twists as you read through it, so 10/10, give it a shot. I swear to you it is a better read than Harry Potter.

Does it also have ancient aliens?

I haven't read the whole series yet so I couldn't tell you. I wouldn't be surprised if some end up showing up though.

I've read Butcher's Codex Alera series, and fell in love with it. Is Dresden as good as Alera?

I haven't read the Alera series yet, so I'm personally not sure. My boyfriend has though, and he's a huge fan of both.

I hate to morph your thread into a general Jim Butcher thread, but you've got to read Codex Alera. It's pretty fucking great.

I still have to finish reading the Dresden Files and I also have a few Discworld books lined up. I'll definitely add it to the list though.
