YT 2/16 - A browsing around an ol' playground

Discussion in 'CWC Discussion' started by Hurtful Truth Level, Feb 16, 2017.

  1. Part of me suspects that, on some level, reality is starting to sink in for Chris. He's almost 35, he has no sweetheart, the likelihood of him fathering Crystal is slim to none, Bob's dead, Barb is not gonna live forever, Sonichu remains an internet joke, and he's completely failed to acclimate into adulthood. Prospects are grim, anyone can recognize that, and instead of deciding to do something to change his life for the better Chris has proceeded to regress even further into the perceived happiness of his childhood. And that's just it, his childhood wasn't even good, but at least he still had his dreams. What we're seeing is a premature mid-life crisis brought on by the repeated deaths of said dreams.

Maybe he's talking about his past because he's getting close to his 35th birthday and he's been thinking about his past life and when he was happiest? It's no secret that he's pretty miserable, and it's not just the money troubles. He was much happier in the past, definitely before he graduated high school.

He's not the goofy guy who made the Future Message video anymore and failing to see how hilariously inappropriate it was. The best he has going for him are toys and video games that are age inappropriate for him and maybe nights at LGBT clubs and events. He's been a clueless manchild for many years and while that's given us a lot to laugh at there are also some tragic consequences to it.

I agree with Attachments - reality is sinking in and Chris is realizing he hasn't had a good life and that the chances for his life to go his way are slim to none. He's dealing with these feelings the way he always does - with stuff most people his age have put aside for better things a few decades ago.

He probably has at least a few of his high school acquaintances on his FB friend list. Even those not doing well have to be doing better than Chris. He's sitting there, watching as they have children and get promoted, wondering what the hell happened.

I used to play in a wooden castle playground built exactly like that in my old grade school. This video was making me feel nostalgic now -- fuck, those were the best playgrounds to be a goddamn kid.

I remember I found a pair of red, lacy panties on the "bouncy" wooden bridge part, and tucked inside the pocket-like cloth lining of the inner crotch of the panties was a perfectly clean, pirate Lego-man. Always smelled vaguely fishy like a real pirate would, my 3rd-grade self reasoned.

There was also a pipe-speaker phone thing that kids would yell into and hear on the other side of the playground. It was a four way connection, and I'd often camp out an entire recess period at the most hidden one inside the far-end spires and repeatedly scream "you're a nigger" into it in hopes the passerby kids hear it on any of the other phones. No one ever found out. I think I called one of my fat white teachers a "nigger" as well. She's dead now.

Must be an New England thing, these wooden castle playground designs.

How long before he films himself out front of the corpse of the GAme PLace?

  8. While that must suck, I - personally - can only feel so much sympathy for Chris. Scores of people have been telling him in detail, for a decade now, what's wrong with his life and exactly what he needs to do to fix it. It's just that happiness requires effort, and Chris wants everything handed to him. That's not how life works, though life has been rather generous in handing Chris second chances. Still, he won't listen to advice, squanders opportunity, and you can't blame all that on Autism despite that being his easy way out.

Chris, in many ways, is simply an unpleasant person. One who doesn't want to accept the real reasons why his life sucks because that requires acknowledging his own personal failures &/or that he doesn't inherently deserve the things he wants. I can't feel too sorry for that kind of person.

Chris made a mention of there once being a plane in this park he showed where it was located (pointed at children unaware they were being filmed). Found this pick on Flickr, been told it's a Grumman F9F Cougar....

I doubt Chris could even climb that sucker if he tried!

    He obviously can't fix that!

Damn. Wonder if I would've done the same had such a thing been at my school playground?

Could be, not that they aren't starting to make the rounds elsewhere in the country by now. Best I ever saw was the usual wooden structures with the bouncy bridges, slides, steps, poles and bars. Never quite as extensive like those castles, though they probably didn't see a need for that 30 years ago, before that it was usually slides and swing sets, merry-go-rounds and teeter totters.

Me neither. He was a mistake waiting to happen.

Growing up in CT I can confirm that. Every park I went to had at least one castle, not necessarily wood though, the one by my house was stone and it was pretty cool.

Chris' crippling nostalgia makes itself felt again.

Also, its not very empathic or sympathetic of Chris to demand donations of at least $10 per person, in fact you might even call it selfish.

You know if I were a kid and that playground were a little more pristine, I would love the shit out of it. But now looking at that shot of it at 2:17 it reminds me of the Beast's castle from Beauty and the Beast. Its dark, and sad, and empty. . .

"Once upon a time, in the state of Virginia, a young boy lived at 14BC with his parents. Although he had everything his heart desired, the boy was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter’s night, an old jerk MALE came to 14BC and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by his ugly bulge, the boy sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. But he warned the boy not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when the boy dismissed him again, the The JERK male's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful lesbian enchantress. The boy tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in his heart. And as punishment, she transformed him into an autistic manchild and placed a powerful spell on 14BC and all who lived there. Ashamed of his autistic form, the manchild concealed himself inside CWCville, a world of his own, with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world. The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his 21st year. If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain an autistic manchild for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair and lost all hope. For who could ever learn to love a manchild?"

You know what could really trigger Chris? Throwing donating pennies while saying "CWC's empathy is dead!"

Wow, I actually played at a playground made by the same guys when I was a kid in VA (it's really obvious in the design and materials). The way they do the arches and slides and bridges is pretty distinct. Mine was fucking huge compared to this one though and awesome but it got torn down and replaced with saftey foam garbage. It's neat some of these are still around.

@Nobody It must be a company that does them because I remember the pipes and the wobbly bridge. I also remember how it was all wood and mulch and sheet metal and if you fell over you ate shit lmao. Lots of little nooks and crannies to crawl into and get stuck too.

I think it was more of a trend than a single company. I've lived all over the country and always had a park like that nearby.

Maybe, but mine was only a couple hours away from this one.
