Curious incident of a Dog at Midnight is great, it is about some autistic dude who gets falsely accused of murdering a dog, but he is also trying to write a book based on what he experienced too. The Esperanto translation is great.

So I ordered the rest of the Sfero books I didn't have as well as a couple other Sci-fi short story collections in Esperanto. I do like short story anthologies since sometimes I just don't want to commit to reading an entire book and having a book full of smaller short stories makes me feel way more accomplished when it comes to reading

Almost halfway through the book when it starts to get interesting and there is some family drama revealed.

On the final quarter of the book, I wasn't so happy with the twist, but it was revealed who killed the dog and I don't blame the guy for running away from home, his dad was an asshole.

Love that book (only ever read it in English though).
I'm worried it's going to get cancelled at some point for having a very stereotypical depiction of autism.

At least it's not The Good Doctor...

I don't know, the thing that is super annoying about him is his euphoric atheist rants he does in between the plot which can get super annoying, with a lot of autism portrayals in media a lot of them seem to be anti-religion if religion is brought up. I would like to see a religious autistic person, though I can understand why a lot of autistic people don't really like church since most churches aren't very accommodating to their sensory or social needs or expect a certain personality type which many autistic people aren't, it also sucks even moreso if you are an older single adult which many of them are due to not being very good at relationships. All of his technobabble (which is often true if you actually think about what he saying) about mathematics and space reminds me of stuff @ToroidalBoat posts, I could see the character getting along with him.

I guess I just hate it when people portray autistic people as super smart and savants, it's kind of like the stereotype of Asians being good at math and how it sucks if you are an Asian who is bad at math or good forbid has dyscalculia. It puts a lot of high expectations on you that can cause a lot of stress.

Yeah, I will admit it does rub me wrong when he says things like ‘people who think X should use their BRAINS like ME and think Y’, he clearly looks down on society to an extent. If he wasn’t so preoccupied with his own interests you’d worry a little for him.

I guess the principal thing to remember is just that the book was written around 20 years ago and autistic representation in media wasn’t as developed.

Well, I finished the book, it was alright. Now time to read the second Moomin book in Esperanto. Afterwards, I think I will read either the rest of my Esperanto comics or get around to reading this one book about Vikings in Esperanto called "Orm la Ruĝa"

I borrowed I, Robot from the library yesterday
I've read short stories by Asimov before but not a novel by Asimov
