Ubisoft

So... these guys.



Years ago I used to love Ubisoft. Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood were amazing games- Prince of Persia was great, and Beyond Good and Evil still remains one of the best adventure games ever created. Also the Rayman Legends games, Far Cry 3, Honest Valiant Hearts, and Brothers... these folks know how to make games.

Or maybe "knew." Last year was a bit of a tipping point for me and Ubisoft. Far Cry Primal was okay but derivative as hell and felt like a cash grab. The Division started off great but quickly died after the first couple of weeks and the game's Dark Zone is complete dogshit, and Watch_Dogs 2 felt like so much pandering I don't think I will ever even bother to download the demo of it.

But that's just me. Any thoughts on these folks? Any favorite games? You looking forward to For Honor, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, or the unannounced but almost-certain-to-appear Assassin's Creed?

I've always loved the Rayman series ever since the first one came out when I was a wee bab. I was so excited for Rayman Origins and Legends, but I guess Ubisoft didn't think it would be worth pushing and didn't advertise it at all so now the series is dead again.

I'm holding out hope for Beyond Good and Evil 2 though. Anything Michel Ancel works on is gold to me.

 

I don't know, i'm still having Vietnam Flashbacks from having to load up U-play everytime I wanted to play Valiant hearts or Child Of Light.
They were some good games though

 

Game companies seem to always do this. The problem is the platform, they make a tech demo on the computer..with what they would like the game to be..and then end up having to make cutbacks for the xbox and playstation which cant handle the graphics/effects of the tech demo created on a computer.

This is hardly something to complain about, look at the no mans sky reveal(what a bad example) and then the actual game. Same principle, the actual development platform cannot handle the "vision" of the full game so thins have to be changed to make the game to run on the hardware.

Also i like rainbow six siege...

 

So it looks like Ubisoft may have been cutting some corners on For Honor which can cause all sorts of mayhem...
