You know, making a half hour video summary of a film currently in theaters is a violation of fair use, especially if a good portion of footage and images from the film are used. If the movie tanked at the box office it would be entirely possible for the studio to sue IHE for violation of fair use based on the video.

I think that the most frustrating thing for a critic is that some things are destined to make money, no matter how many angry critics throw their feces at it. Just look at Sex And The City 2.

That animation isn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. Sperging ahoy but I remember watching a Peter Rabbit cartoon as a wee child and the animation was very similar to the original book illustrations. A more recent Peter Rabbit cartoon used 3D animation and it looked like garbage.
This new movie better not ruin my nigga Tom Kitten.

Meh, this'll probably be a stupid movie, but this isn't anything CLOSE to the levels of cringe and badness that The Emoji Movie was.

James Corden seems like he's having a fucking blast in the title role, and I feel like kids will gobble this up and it'll get respectable numbers a'la Emoji Movie.

There's a saying that people buy your product based on the last one you put out. There are a substantial number of parents who are going to have sat through the emoji movie and added Sony Pictures to a personal blacklist (which I imagine contains one entry).

It's not really as clear cut, black and white as that. All movie studios have gigantic hits, middle of the road fair, and outright shit bombs. It boils down to a lot more then "Oh, well, the last movie they did sucked, so this next one is gonna suck too."

Casting, adverts, overall product, etc play a YUGE role.

It is worth noting that last year every Sony movie except for one didn't make their budgets back, so Sony actually lost money with their film section. With Sony, Universal and Warner Bros box office bombs and critical failures mean nothing because the companies are too big to fail.

We're starting to get to the point where the sort of stuff hand-drawn illustrations and animation could do is finally getting replicated well enough in CGI to work as fluidly as possible. When I think of how far we've come, I think back to Caddyshack and that gopher puppet they had to use! They could've done so much with that little guy today had they done a reboot!

Personally, I'd love to see films where the world is defined in a way unlike our own simply because it had these talking, bipedal animals in it, and it's acknowledged of their coexistence in a human society. I suppose my inspiration for this stems from Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows, and for whatever reason, I wouldn't mind seeing a Wind in the Willows adaptation if it has the budget/technology used on Peter Rabbit, but without the modern writing and setting (keeping it period based only works for that tale). What we're seeing here is really just Peter Rabbit in-name-only.

Yeah that earlier were done by a studio in London called "TVC" who worked on such classics as Yellow Submarine and several Raymond Briggs' adaptations. It was a mini-series of sorts featuring other Potter tales animated as lavish as that.

Here's nearly 4 hours worth of the best TV adaptation ever made!

I hope. The way they had to introduce Peter as not wearing pants doesn't give me much confidence (though Tom Kitten didn't want to wear any anyway).

Anything to get Sony off our backs over Popeye suits them fine I suppose.

I'm sure there's plenty that are feeling the same way (especially our English folk).

It drowns off the aftertaste of all that we've been through this past century.

This movie feels like what happens when you let your characters 'grow up' and that safety net is no longer there. I'm sure it's been this way for a while with many properties we've known and loved. Someone's always bringing something new to it where it doesn't belong.

I see even the OFFICIAL Beatrix Potter YT page includes this trailer as well, so obviously someone's getting a fat paycheck!
