Rosechu's Story - A Sonichu Fancomic About Feelings n Shit

Unfortunately, we've got another unfinished page for today. Just about everything's done except for the background elements, and while I usually try to just power through those, there's a few panels in this one that get a lot more detailed.



Shouldn't take too long to finish, hopefully it'll be done tomorrow.

 

Sonichu and Rosechu look so cute cuddling together! I'm always impressed by how cute you make your characters.

There we go. Man, these detailed crowd shots are deceptively time consuming. You'd think it wouldn't be so bad with just simple coloring and no shading, but you're basically making a diverse cast of characters from scratch because if people have the same hair, skin, and clothing color, they're all just going to blend into each other. And then (of course, being me) I have to analyze just about everything, like "wait, is this a good color for pants? do people wear pants that are this color?" Next time I need to just remember to open a fashion catalog and just pick models and outfits at random or something, or maybe just a photo of a crowd, that might look more natural.

By the way, for some reason I've really grown attached to the buff dude in the second to last panel. He was supposed to look upset or mildly angry at having been pushed, but I didn't realize until I colored it that he just looks genuinely concerned. I'm calling him "Shades" for now.

 

It took hearing the name two times before she connected the dots. In her defense, though, "CWC" may sound a lot like a corporation name to the uninitiated.

I'll get to comments soon, but for now I just wanna say that the 2 year anniversary of the comic had sort of slipped by unnoticed, so in addition to today's comic I tried to make at least a little something extra, even if it's a bit stupid.

Note to self: Make a self-insert character so I can create self indulgent scenarios where my characters all compliment me and say supportive things about what I do.

Also he would've been careful to beat Zapdos without damaging mall property. And Kel would never push or shove through a crowd, she's a very nice young lady."

Spooky Terminator Sonichu is one of my favorites. That panel was actually sketched out quite a long time in advance, with some very basic sketched in colors and shading, because I wanted to make sure it would look right.

Thank you, I suppose I really do like making characters do cute those things. It's kind of a bad habit of mine, because I sometimes forget that they're not supposed to be cute.

Yeah, I get this a lot. I think most people tend to exaggerate Chris' grossness, and I prefer to downplay it a bit.

I gave you two. Hope that's enough.

I always thought the pose from the original version of this scene was funny, so I thought I'd keep it.

Technically, it's supposed to be a cybernetic endoskeleton, but yes, a skeleton nonetheless.

I just binged this and am not disappointed.

 

Well, this week has been just shit. And since I'm an idiot who keeps thinking that I can figure things out despite frontloading all kinds of errands and shit into the same week and still turn out a page, I'm kind of paying the piper now.

I don't even have the sketch page done, it's that bad. This was mostly due to me wanting to save a certain panel for the next page, since it's an establishing shot, but then it turns out that there's a lot less going on in this page than I guessed, and I only realized when I was half putting it together, so I had to redo it twice in order to figure out how to fit a panel big enough for an establishing shot in there and... I dunno. Excuses I guess.

Point is, all I have to show is an unfinished sketch page. I'll spoiler it because you might want to wait until it's finished, but whatever it's there.

To make it up to you guys, we'll do another sketch request week. I'll go ahead and take requests until 11pm PST on Tuesday (or about 48 hours from now). I might not get to all of them if there's too many, but I'll do as many as I can.
