People have attempted to glorify God in some very strange ways. This is a thread to share material produced by unconventional Christian ministries, or idiosyncratic Christian media in general.

Poor Penny Carson is an elderly street preacher who has traveled the United States spreading his vision of God's love since 1976. Because he believes few will listen to a black man with no formal qualifications, he preaches under the guise of a white man - a ventriloquist's dummy named Sweet Pea Johnson. He does not solicit donations, so concerned parties use social media to track his whereabouts and urge locals to offer him a few dollars or a hot meal. At one point, he maintained a website and youtube channel, and although these have fallen by the wayside, his unique ministry remains well represented online.

In contrast to the peripatetic Mr. Carson, Reverend Evangelist Dr. Robert L. McKim Sr. runs the McKim Beacon Light Ministry and SOUL Clinic from his recliner in a dilapidated Ohio house trailer. Theologically, he has conflated the petty inconveniences of day-to-day life with the Great Tribulation of Christian eschatology - for example, the fact that his preferred bacon increased in price is a sign of the Apocalypse. He believes himself to be a credible authority because he has purchased a doctoral diploma from the Universal Life Church, and most of his preaching consists of demands that people give him stuff and complaints when the stuff they give him is not good enough.

Even an outpouring of grief at his father's passing quickly turns to anger at his perception that he is being unfairly denied an inheritance. The follow-up video above reveals this inheritance to consist in large part of old Tupperware; at 11:00, Rev. Bob mocks so-called Christians who offer him their worthless prayers instead of cold hard cash. According to him, such people are not fit for the kingdom of God.

In addition to material created especially for youtube by individuals seeking to share their unique theological vision, one may also find a wealth of peculiar content from ministries intended for niche audiences, such as small children, the elderly, and clowns.

"Psalty the Singing Songbook" is a musical ministry created by Debby Kerner & Ernie Rettino for children whose parents believed Barney the Purple Dinosaur to be an unwholesome secular influence. Low production values and a paucity of self awareness may be faulted for the nightmare fuel that is Blooper the Dog, and yet one suspects it may not have been entirely accidental that villainous talent agent "Risky Rat" hews so close to a handful of questionable stereotypes.

In an excerpt from an instructional film, the narrator encourages novice Christian clowns to visit nursing homes and touch old people. This is not a metaphor; he intends for the clowns to touch them physically.

On that not-at-all-unsettling note, let us go forth to love and serve the Lord.

Bob has been preaching lately about how wrong it is to engage in idiotic arguments. I guess like making videos specifically to denounce your Father in Law. It has been comedy gold the past few days.

It's been tough times for Bob since the farms shut down. His van broke down. No one would help him (big surprise there). His ex wife keeps threatening him.

    Hey everybody! My first post!

Dr. Robert L McKim watchers might be interested in checking out my youtube channel, Bisexual Ministries Inc- I get videos from Bob's father-in-law and nemesis, John Henry Andrews, and I post them there. He's sent me a few in the past week or so!

Also, he passes along juicy little nuggets of info to me! For instance- this, is a recent picture of Rene's Ex-Husband.
    ExHUB.jpg
Verbatim quote from John- " Lol Rene actually used to rough up her ex causing him more seizure from the stress. He divorced her."

I've also created The McKim Files, as an archive for McKim-related imagery. I think that about covers it :) Thanks!

PS- Check out Kendra Nauman! She's got a stripper pole installed in her living room, and she "dances for Jesus," basically. No, it doesn't make any sense.

    Anyway, worth checking out!

If you want a wild ride, check out Thirdeaglebooks, the guy who made whole videos on how the music of Psy is predicting "The End Times".

I read that as "Their Dealgle Books" and thought that Jan had been getting religious again...

Does the Herkster count for this thread? Many/most of his vids have a strange religious overtone/spin to them.

I'm pretty sure Bob does his "ministry" because he can get accolades ("I have several master's and doctoral degrees from the Universal Life Church! I'm not stupid!"), solicit funds and rebuke people in a socially acceptable manner, gives him a way to feel special as one of the redeemed/elect, and gives him an obvious enemy to fight. I think he actually does believe what he preaches, but his interests in his ministry are almost entirely self-serving, instead of, you know, actually helping people who hired him as a minister (which it looks like there aren't too many takers).

Most of his videos are him screeching about problems he and Rene are having, how "demons" like Kiwis and his father-in-law are messing with him, how he's a real doctor with a real ordination, sometimes about his radio hobby. He rarely preaches except to bludgeon people with the Bible, instead of preaching the gospel and trying to bring people into the faith, which is what a real evangelist does.

Someone made a good series of posts on KF that detail why his ministry and radio hobby are so important to his ego, and why most people don't give a hoot about his Universal Life Church degrees and ordination and his activities in ham radio emergency response groups.

Anyway, tl;dr, I think this video does a good job summing up his religious beliefs and ego - and while I'm not a preacher, I'm pretty sure he committed a few sins in this video by being jealous of people with nicer houses and complaining about relatively petty things:

I'm actually a spiritually-minded guy, not a nihilist as my avatar might indicate, but I agree that ridiculous ministries like this just make religion look really silly; they're basically the 'conservative' equivalent of the SJW 'lolcow' groups, despite not being nearly as relevant in the media. The American Family Association for example apparently has nothing better to do with their time than complain that Geico ads are some how 'promoting bestiality'; their rhetoric is quite similar to the SJW spiel, just with "racism/sexism/homophobia" swapped with "sin/adultery/blasphemy/lust/etc".
