Least favorite Chris moment

I think that even without the trolling, he'd still pull a fail now and then -- like that GAMe PLACe incident -- but he may have been better off. Like no "dimensional merge" delusions for one.

 

I never thought about it, but it makes sense. The Classic Trolls weren't masterminds or geniuses, they were just the weens that got htere first.

 

Honeslty I think he'd still believe in the dimensional merge, it's a very common delusion.

From the Rapture to the "Ghost Squad" it keeps coming up from one end of human history to the next.

The belief that "cartoons are real in another dimension" and that "the toon world will merge with this one" is fairly unique stupidity. The "Idea Guys" made it up, and the "genius" bought it. That lolcow did believe that "cartoons are real in another dimension" before, but he did not believe the "toon world" would "merge with this dimension" before the "Idea Guys" messed with him.

 

I think to me, what separates the old trolls who turned out to be real ones from the egotistical has-been losers living off the past glory of their old school internet tomfuckery, is how they view it nowadays and what they make of it.

As in, do they regret anything they did and do they not glorify it, while also having come to terms with it and learned from it, or do they look back on it all with a smug sense of satisfaction? That, to me, is a character defining moment for people like that in this wild digital world. The line between an OG troll who grew up, and a burnt out glorified ween who can't let go of the past.

Related to this as well, and not something enough people talk about I think is, the line between a troll and a lolcow is incredibly thin. It's frequently blurred by the fact a lot of notorious trolls were former lolcows themselves as ignorant kids, who learned the ways of the internet the hard way and either disappeared under a new identity, or did a complete 180 while acknowledging their past. A lot of the young lolcalves of yesterday are the seasoned trolls of tomorrow.

Other times the reverse cycle happens, where a reputed troll who's a grown adult will act a fool hard enough to reveal that they're a lot more like the people they mock and fixate on than they wanted to let on, and in some ways even more pathetic, and will become massive lolcows themselves. This is more or less what happens with a lot of the most high profile weens, and what already happened to many of the more unsavory CWC trolls over the years.

My theory on trolls and the lolcows they milk having a very thin line separating them holds weight when you consider the idea that to be this obsessed with internet culture, and that intensely fixated on messing with peculiar dumbshits online, you have to be pretty fucking autistic yourself to be into that shit.

 

Eh again, it's one of the oldest escapist fantasies of all time "It shall be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven."

And I say that as someone who believes there are actual merits to religion and spirituality.. As in, are there non-physical elements to our world we can't properly study? More likely than not, does this mean psychics and prophets will guide us to a new, more effective status quo? Lol no

 

I've said this here before, but it's relevant enough that I think it's worth bringing up again. While conniving dipshits like the Idea Guys certainly made that delusion far worse and turned it into something a lot more incomprehensible, contrary to popular belief, the "Dimensional Merge" isn't some bizarre dumbass idea that trolls came up with and gave Chris.

It's an original idea that Chris came up with on his own accord without any outside influence. Chris has mentioned it outright as early as January 2010, in a very enlightening phone call with Alec Benson Leary. He said that Asperchu would have negative feelings about his name, and repeatedly called Alec naïve for explaining that Asperchu is not a sentient creature in another dimension who can generate independent thoughts. He didn't outright call it the "dimensional merge" back then, and there was none of this "1218" or "C-197" crap at the time, but the concept and his basic beliefs about it were the same exact shit, word for word.

He cited Who Framed Roger Rabbit as evidence that the merge existed, and the fact that the film was made by two huge corporate studios as proof that other people knew about it, to the point of it being a recognizable part of pop culture. I also have distinct memories of Chris referring to the concept much earlier in the classic era between 2007-2008, definitely in 2009 more in depth. Hell, I think he's discussed it with people and posted online about it before his online discovery too, like in 2006 and earlier. I am fairly certain that this dimensional merge garbage is something Chris has staunchly believed in since the 1990s.

 

Like I said, that's just the idea that "cartoons are real in another dimension", not the idea that the "toon world" would "merge" with this "dimension" -- the "Idea Guys" and the so-called "Teen Troon Squad" are the ones who planted and cultivated the latter belief in his TV-fried mind. Although maybe he would've come up with the idiocy of the "dimensions merging" sooner or later without trolling influence, aped from somewhere?

It's kind of mind blowing to me that A-Log is still around on the internet today, and under the same identity no less. He's mostly pretty active on Twitter nowadays, I don't know if he has a YouTube he still uses. He seems remorseful and super embarrassed about his past, which makes sense.

Obviously nobody go and harass him, but yeah, Anthony is still around on today's internet. I think he's also into voice acting characters in stuff sometimes too these days.

It's an actual quote from A-Log from circa 2008, that became a prime example of why the term for overplaying your hatred of Chris and his antics was named after him. A lot of us assumed it was some sort of in-joke meme that wasn't the actual quote at first, until we actually went and listened to the video and heard it.

 

I find it hard to hate Chris considering the mere act of being Chris is already enough punishment for the crime of being Chris.

 

One thing I know about Surfshack Tito is that he was in High School during all of his trolling, so it makes sense he'd stop because he was busy finishing school and then sometime after that probably just grew up. I'm really curious what he's up to nowadays and if he still keeps up with Christory from afar. Probably a seasoned veteran who mellowed out with age, if I had to guess.

The Christory scene needs more veteran ex-trolls like him observing and discussing, and less of these tryhard younger wannabe trolls of today actually thinking Chris trolling is still worth it, who don't even realize Chris was milked dry as a lolcow a very long time ago. I think those of us who are keeping up with him again after having paid attention to him for over a decade just feel like we need to see how it all ends. That's the case for me at this point, anyways.

 

The older trolls were in a better position than the weens of today (such as the "Idea Guys" and "Praetor").

No, I agree. I've always disliked all the post-Bob trolling efforts and that's a stance I won't change. I meant that the veteran ex-trolls who have since grown up and matured would be great observers and could add a lot of interesting insight into discussions. I should've been more specific about that.
