Asperchu

Asper-chu!

 

It's only the first few parts of the comic though.

 

I call Liquid. I do a pretty decent Liquid impersonation.

 

Asperchu was one of my favorite webcomics. I never thought it was some sort of high quality high art thing, if anything the drawing quality is intentionally mediocre in places. Part of the subtlety of trolling Chris with it is that it's higher quality with low effort. Chris had the hand-eye coordination to draw something better if he put work into it, but obviously he wasn't going to do that.

The writing and characters gripped me. I didn't understand prettymuch any subtext related to Chris's real life when reading Asperchu, just the comics and the real life details we can divine from those.

Personally I don't like Jivin as a character. Nothing about him seems even a little interesting, he's just generic black teenager #32767 with his race being his entire gimmick and a near-complete summary of his character. He was the least amusing part of the Asperchu series to me, only chuckle I got out of him was when his house got burned down as a shout out to Star Wars.

Jivin' is supposed to have over-the-top black stereotypes. He's setting up absurdist -level stereotypes, then has moments where we see the true character that knock thise stereotypes down.

I can't believe I had to explain that.

 

We're all a little autistic here, but some a little more than others.

Back to the lecture at hand, I would have loved it if Jivin' and Max got their own spin-off series.
