Tallulah Bankhead is going to be the next person the weens make fake Twitter/YouTube accounts of so that they can JULAAAAAAAAY Chris. Goddamit, those fuckers ruin everything.

 

For God's sake, don't give them any ideas...

 

The problem here is that people are yelling at a 35 year old mental brick wall.

Would it be alright then if I just address Chris as "dumbass," but I mean it a neutral sense? Like Red did on "That 70s Show?" Because I think I will from here on out until he wises up.

Chris, dumbass, just because you think it's neutral, doesn't mean it actually is. Try as much as you like, neither you nor your imaginary psychic powers or the magic unicorn you believe punches holes through realities will change this fact. Okay, dumbass?

Now, being from a particular geographic region of 'Mericaland (you can guess which one), "dear" and "darling" are used frequently in casual contexts between relative strangers here, though it's not quite neutral ("darling" is pointed exclusively at females, "dear" is 67/33 female/male directed in usage).

It tends to be mostly used by women, though men in the right circumstances can get away with it (but men only call women 'darling' or 'dear', women call either sex 'darling' or 'dear'). It's much more difficult for a man to do it and not come off as patronizing the recipient.

However, this is a complex social construction, because the user of the term, in order to be not commit a faux pas between strangers, generally has to:

• Be elderly (and the object of 'darling' or 'dear' should be young).
• Be well mannered and genteel with good social graces.
• Be expressing gratitude for a service when using the term (a retail store worker putting something heavy in your car, a waitress pouring you a cup of coffee, someone holding an elevator for you, etc.)
• And it helps if the user is an elderly woman and the object of the term is a young woman, though I am male and have been called 'dear' by older women plenty of times when the preceding criteria are met.

However I should note that it does not play well socially as an affectation or idiosyncrasy as Chris is using it. If you have to wonder whether it's appropriate for you to indulge in this habit (not that Chris ever considers the differential social status of individuals due to the 'tism) then you're not qualified to do it.

 

After setting the record straight, Chris returns to talk to himself through his alt as if nothing ever happened. One valium too many tonight?

 

Well......this *certainly* isn't weird and creepy beyond all fucking belief.....

The thing to remember is, in Chris' mind, he isn't having a conversation with himself. He's having a conversation with Night Star who is communicating through him from the pony dimension.

 

All Chris has to do to make this argument 100% reasonable and not be as creepy is to start calling men dears and darlings.
