For no particular reason I'd like to point out that true hermaphroditism in humans, that is to say a person with both sets of functioning sex organs, is impossible. You see during development, and just as an aside I'm really generalizing things here, the sex organs are formed out of the gonadal ridge during the development and the sex is determined through hormones which of course are released based off of the sex chromosomes. This is what happens most of the time, like 99.99% of the time, but there's a number of things that can go wrong, however none of them with result in true hermaphroditism. You can have someone who appears to be female but is genetically male (XY gonadal dysgenesis) and also have people who are born with ambiguous genitalia which in many countries is often surgically altered to appear more like one or the other but that sorta gets into the whole what is gender debate so just focus on the fact that true hermaphroditism in humans does not exist.

 

But is it possible in electric hedgehogs?
