FB 9/28 - Sonichu and Rosechu Surnames

I've said this earlier, but the wholen aming structure for the rest of the 'chus made me think of how often cartoon animals often are given the names of their species for surnames rather than a regular surname (Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, etc.) Sonichu merely follows this trend after the "Prime" duo as Chris chose to call them.

You make better sense than Chris did when it came to these names! The way the naming structure's done simply doesn't work the way decided to do it. Both Sonichu and Rosechu are techincally what you suggested they could be (I'll go with Hedgechus). That name alone for a species would've solved everything, but nope, we're stuck with Chris' love of his Sonic series and less for proper world-building details.

Chris certainly doesn't think that much about the longevity or ages of these guys does he? He would've been better off if the whole Sonichu existence had occured over millenniums or beyond, and this world has always had these chus running about. I suppose he'd have to write a completely different origins tale altogether and a different way for the main character to simply been born this way and not been a pikachu as before.

 

I wonder if Barb and Bob thought Chris was some kind of savant for “creating” a character from 2 existing intellectual properties. Plus he can apparently master vidya games in a short time.

 

I was going to say 'they probably didn't know sonic and Pikachu existed,' but considering chris likely talked about them incessantly, they had to know.

I think they were likely more happy chris found something to occupy himself, like how a hyper 4 year old stops running around to work quietly on a coloring book.

 

Chris got his habit of living in his own secluded mental space from his baby boomer parents. To them, Pokemon, Sonic, the American Rabbit, and everything else he's obsessed over is just junk they'd buy to pacify him.

 

And grew tired of, I bet!

I'm sure that was all they could do.

 

reminds me of George Carlin when a kid started talking to him about pokemon and what their special powers were, he took him into the bathroom and began explaining all the stuff in the bathroom cabinet was and what it did. I like to think Bob tried this once.

Reading this really depressed me, probably because I over thought it.

Can you remember the times you as a child babbled to your parents about spider man, star trek or what ever your little kid jam was. Your parents knew, it was a phase you'd grow and you'd be able to bond about adult things, share life on their level. Like hey mom, my phone bill is too high isn't that some shit! It's a wonderful bond we grow post teen years with our parents they are still many years advanced of us, but we can deal with the same new adult things. We share wisdom and experiences. Parents are more than happy to put up listening to who your favorite power ranger is to know the rewards of being having an adult off spring.

For the Chandlers Chris, denied them this in reality to no part of his own doing. I would say, picture having a son, who was born armless, or crippled, how much pain would a father have to know a game of catch would never happen, there's still so much to share in their life, but a rite of passage, something to see that day he throws a pitch and stings his fathers hand. Never will take place. For the Chandlers, the fact some day they had to figure, they would never hear the sounds of grand kids running around, never be able to have their manager son take them out for dinner, not even share normal things like ugh after the storm, my gutters were a mess!

It has to be really scary to know you are stuck with a 6 year old, and how you repress it to a point but something, has to cause the snap and they had to admit Chris is Chris.

 

Star Trek is a childish thing? But really, kids can have a childish fixation on it.

Finding out a child is going to grow up with autism can be depressing.

 

I was really struck by Bob's mentioning of Sonichu in the letter Chris read a few weeks ago, basically Bob's FUTURE MESSAGE to his son. It was the first time I had really thought of Sonichu being a significant part of the last ten year's of Bob's life due to the influence it had on Chris. He got to see the light little yellow bastard's face everyday hanging off his son's neck. Back when Chris was arrested for the Game Stop incident, a Kiwi Farms user said that it would be what makes CWCville leak out into the real world. They were envisioning a trial in which both CWCville and Sonichu were going to be used to ascertain Chris's mental status, a trial in which adults with law degrees would be using words like CWCville and Sonichu. I think the user may have not given enough credit to the competency of a public defender.

 

It happens for many of us at one point or another in our youth.

I'm sure it is. All those psychoanalyst visits and everything.

 

To be fair, the chandlers did have that chance with Cole, but they bungled that. But yeah, I can see where you're comin' from.
