Didn't Vivian Gee do a bunch of audiobooks of her or someone else reading the Sonichu comics?

 

I'll be honest I'd love an audiobook reading of Sonichu by Chris himself.

 

He tried with the "videobooks" but wasn't able to properly tell the story without the aid of his drawings. You would have to have him read from a script.

 

Again, wasn't there a whole big ruckus over Vivian Gee making "audio books", then Chris making a spergy attempt at trying to "Extort" a percentage of the "profits" from them?

Yes and yes. This lead Chris to do a competing "video book" series. Surprisingly, Chris's own completely free distribution system proved to be unprofitable.

 

In college, my professor said it is always worthwhile to listen to an author read from their own work since it is possible that they will highlight nuances that others would miss. That's why Chris's readings are so captivating. They are the real doorway to CWCville.

 

I don't remember the details of that whole audiobook thing, but I do remember it felt more like someone reading a spork than someone just reading the comic. I know some people think they were funny, but I didn't really think that the Sonichu experience was improved by removing the artwork, and listening to someone read the text while describing the artwork and inserting a few jokes making fun of the comic.

I've always wondered if anyone ever actually made money from the audiobooks. I read on the Cwcki that all of the profits went to charity, but the Cwcki isn't always TRUE AND HONEST, so I don't take too much on it at face value. I've always just believed that Chris was told that money was being made from the audiobooks to get him angry.

 

Since the audiobooks were free no money was made and trolls pretended like there was profit after he demanded money.
Edit: If you want a better listening experience I would recommend Brendanial reads. He reads the text and comments on the art but also displays the pages so you can see what hes talking about.

Hoarders is maybe my favorite tv show and I hope to see the Chandlers on there one day. It's a bad hoard. When you see shit in the yard, the narrow passage ways in the stacks of shit and crap stacked on the stairs...it's a bad one.
