You hit the nail on the head. That's what bugs me about this, chris is going to settle into a cycle of begging for money and putting up any random thing within arm's reach and expecting the money to roll in. He's going to feel financially secure when in reality he has everything in common with the hobo living in the subway bathroom. Knowing how chris thinks: he's going to settle back and expect to ride to Bronycon and get all the toys and games he wants on the backs of his 'fans,' all he has to do is make it seem like an emergency.

It's no different than when Brett Keane scammed people out of money to get stuff on his Amazon wishlist when he was being 'evicted.' And chris will also do the same thing Brett did after he got his money: wallow on his bed and do nothing with his life.

Ok so my fiancé (let’s call him Piboy) used to fix phones for a living.
Chris says something about the battery, it probably means either it won’t charge or it won’t hold a charge.
At Piboy’s old job if the problem was it didn’t charge when you plugged it in, 90% of the time it was because pocket lint got caught in the port. Piboy would pull it out with a pair of tweezers, and tell them no charge and send them on their way (people usually gave him 10-20$ tip for not scamming them.)
If the problem was the phone wouldn’t hold a charge, then you need a new battery, which isn’t some hot insider information, everyone except apparently Chris knows this. Piboy would replace with a new one for about $70. 40 for the battery, and 30 for a guy trained not to break your phone. DIY repair kits go for about 35$, but you void the warranty and are fucked if you fuck it up. Chris would probably do this.
So luckily Chris has an IPhone, which are way cheaper to repair and replace parts than their Samsung counterparts (certain Samsung battery replacements or screen repairs can easily cost 100$.)
So Chris thinks he needs a new phone (current price tag for newest model brand new is about 1100$, and we all know Chris MUST have the best toys.) when in reality, he could probably fix the problem for 0-70$.

 

Since chris has the mechanical aptitude of a 2nd grader anything more difficult than operating a pull tab on a soda can is not only scary to his mind set, it is potentialy (low potental) life threatening. chris with a screwdriver = stiches.

 

I think back to that video of Chris trying to fix his old shirt, then I imagine him trying to fix a cell phone.

 

He can still pay someone to do it, but the repair technician industry is a little....male-dominated

 

Plus that would use money he has to blow for the con.

 

Yeah, he should've just dug through Chris's garbage like a normal person.

 

Fucking what is it about the CWC subculture and its obsession with JoJo and Metal Gear? It seems everyone, including myself, involved in this loves Metal Gear and JoJo.

 

All three are utter bullshit

 

Oh, they are. But it's magnificent bullshit. All three of these things pendulum between absolutely boring to the craziest shit anyone has ever seen.
