YT 4/2 - Son-Chu figure review

I still can't believe he's selling his father's stamp collection for future Lego bucks. If anything he should atleast sell it to someone who actually collect stamps. Oh wait, that's Logic. This is Chris we are talking about who uses mouth sounds to make "music" in this video.
also why the hell does he have a miku avatar? does he have a sweetheart crush on miku?

 

From the "Christine" doll to Chris fancying himself a classy British Sailor Neptune, to Miku, to that Skylanders avatar, to dyeing his hair, it's how Chris wants to look: like a slim aqua-haired cartoon girl.

 

Does that make us the comically ugly villains?

 

I wonder what would happen if he got his hands on a 3D printer?

 

Oh fuck this I am not watching 45 minutes of him squealing around.
I do however look forward to the collapse of this latest money making(?) scheme.

 

It's been a while since I've watched his recent video but JESUS CHRIST his "feminine" voice is irritating as hell.

 

So I made the mistake of showing a brief part of that video to a coworker, minus the sound.

His response was, "Did little Timmy break his new toy and daddy did a horrible job fixing it and little Timmy did the best he could customizing it so nobody would nake fun of him".

My reply was, "take out any mention of daddy and you pretty much summed it up."

 

Are you sure we oughtn't have separate icons? I can think of at least one problem with merging them together:

 

When I added the Business saga video icon, it was to cover the money-making ventures he was doing, like Etsy promo videos. I hadn't checked the Saga page and didn't know that it was referred to as Selling Out on there, or I might've edited that page to change the title.

So there's two icons that describe the same saga. I'd like to only use one and phase out the other.

What do you think?

Personally, I like Business. I think the name's funny in contrast to the stuff he makes, and it ties in with the Chris and Business page. Selling Out's a bit of a misnomer, since Chris has been consistent about not wanting to do paid content that goes against his beliefs.

 

I agree that the name, "Selling Out" Saga, is a bit of a misnomer. But I still insist that we differentiate these videos based on their content. There's a clear distinction of video style when Chris promotes his merchandise vs when he does a performance in exchange for money.

Perhaps then it's not a matter of Saga, but rather of Subject.

 

You guys are tougher than I am, because I tapped out at 5:05. I know the words Chris is saying (sometimes), just not in the order he's saying them.

So an Etsy/Skylanders/stamps promo video would be saga: Business, subject: CWCville shopping?

And a paid request video would be saga: Business, subject: Handouts?

 

I think we should do away with the idea of a "Business Saga". I propose we continue to use what is already established on the CWCki saga page: "Selling Out" and "Financhu Crisis". It would be more fitting to use "Business" as a subject icon, and place the PVRs under the Financhu Crisis (this is not unlike how the Calling Out videos are considered part of the Tomgirl Saga).

Right now, all the PVRs utilize the subject icon: Handouts. This is appropriate for most of them because Chris often begged for donations in the description or at the end of the video, but sometimes he never begged. "Business" would be the subject of all PVRs, and would act as a replacement of "Handouts" for the videos in which he didn't beg for money. "Business" would also be included in almost every Selling Out saga video, (not to mention some classic Chris videos where he naively tried to close deals with Seth MacFarlane and Nintendo). CWCville shopping is for specific videos which contain medallions and amibos, and "Business" would go along side it.

I don't exactly mind the title, "Selling Out Saga", but I wouldn't object to renaming it. I'm hesitant about your idea of replacing it with a "Business Saga" because the name change also seeks to reform what constitutes as a "Selling Out Saga" video. A "Business Saga" would adopt the PVRs, and I don't see any relation between the style of Selling Out Saga videos and PVRs. From what I understand, the only connection you've drawn is that people originally requested them through Etsy; I don't believe that is a relevant enough link.

Good idea. I'd like to keep using business terms ironically to define his sagas. How about instead of Business for subject, we use Entrepreneurship? Your suggestion for PVRs makes sense. I think we could edit the CWCville Shopping icon and change its display name to Entrepreneurship and use one of the icons you provided. It defines those videos clearly enough, and would save us the trouble of re-editing those video pages, so that we'd only add it to stuff like PVRs and promo videos.

The terms are essentially synonymous, so there's leeway with deciding which classification to use - we could just exclude the PVRs from Business and file them under Financhu Crisis, as a rule of thumb. The ones that were made prior to the Crisis could be filed under Business.

Personally, I think of them all as business - he was paid to do something and then delivered. Like you said, the begging was minimal in those.

 

Entrepreneurship is a bit clunky, and I think such a specific name would only be appropriate for a video like Proposition to Sega. But I really like what you're suggesting! We don't have to use Business specifically as the name for the subject, but I think it's advantageous to have a name as adaptable as "Business" to accommodate for Chris's future quick-cash-scheme videos.

I actually really like the subject Cwcville Shopping. It may be obsolete now that Etsy is gone, but it fulfilled it's role pretty well, very much how Flipnote did.

I think of most of his recent videos as being business-related too. My greatest objection has always been putting the PVRs and the Selling Out videos under the same saga. If we can agree on that, and I think we do, then all that's left is to come up with a new name for the Selling Out saga. We should start a new thread so everyone can propose their idea for a new name. I'd love for us to come up with something as clever as Financhu.

 

I think Entrepreneurship could apply to other videos. Like his ads for Etsy sales, the stamps, Totem, etc. His goal is promoting business, whether it be to his fanbase or companies like Sega.
